Re: Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

Hi mudslide, I also use Kratom as part of my system to manage my rls. I find it very effective for my rls. I have read about it being stimulating at low doses and more soporific at higher doses. I found Kratom to have an alerting effect at times and I did try increasing the dose to get to the point ...

Re: Has anyone used Lyrica for RLS

It does have some side effects, the most immediate being weight gain. It can also cause gloominess. At higher doses i got patches of inflammation on my skin. It makes me a bit dizzy and also quite tired. I sometimes get a weird sense of weakness in one of my legs when on a higher dose also.

Re: Has anyone used Lyrica for RLS

Yes; it is reasonably effective for rls. Especially for those who have not previously augmented on the dopamine agonist family of drugs. It often works well on its own but it can be particularly effective in conjunction with other drugs. I take a low dose of it in conjunction with a tiny dose of pra...

Plus one for the kratom suggestion. It is a fantastic as-and-when remedy and seems to support most other treatments well.

Re: Refractory RLS

Just a couple more points: I would not expect Horizant to make much impact on his symptoms at this stage. It is worth continuing to take it for when his augmented symptoms settle down as it can take a while to kick in. My instinct would be the same as Ann’s: that it might be worth moving towards dis...

Re: Refractory RLS

Over two months after I took my last pramipexole tablet I was still experiencing severe rls all night and got at most a few hours sleep each week. At that stage my GP prescribed OxyContin. I needed 30mg to get relief - 20mg did not help much. I started to recover once I started taking OxyContin at 3...

Re: "drug holiday" from Mirapex

You haven’t said what dose of mirapexin you were actually on. In your shoes, I would be very slow to return to a dopamine agonist at this stage. Although the nausea may not be caused by the withdrawal, another symptom you describe - the legs going into spasm - almost certainly is. You have gone thro...

Re: "drug holiday" from Mirapex

I didn’t experience nausea - just violently increased rls symptoms so that it wasn’t possible to lie in bed at all. Try ginger for nausea - I take chrystalised ginger. It works well. It took a long time for my symptoms to settle down after I stopped mirapexin. Starting OxyContin and getting my iron ...

Re: Airsickness meds?

I was going to suggest ginger - Chrystalised ginger is what I use. Ginger has been found to be very effective in studies - as effective as some pharmaceutical options. There are also wrist bands that apply pressure to a particular point on your wrist which is supposed to help with nausea. I used the...

Re: Orthofix fusing machine

Poor you; that sounds miserable. When you say ‘all the drugs for rls’ could you specify which drugs? Have you tried opioids such as tramadol and OxyContin? There are numerous suggestions of dietary changes out there which some people find very helpful - fodmap, anti-inflammatory, veganism, gluten fr...

Re: The next pharma drug crisis in the US may be starting

Interesting that rls is specifically mentioned as a condition gabapentin is used to treat. I must say I’d have to be really desperate to resort to this drug for a ‘high’ - it’s so unpleasant. Also had a hollow laugh when I read that it is combined with opioids and marijuana for a more ‘intense’ high...

Re: Dipyridamole

Hi Yawny, It would be great to welcome another member to the dipyridamole club - especially one so erudite as yourself. I don't believe I had side effects from dipyridamole other than a headache (a tolerable one - not a migraine) which lasted maybe one or two days every time I increased the dose unt...

Yes, but it seems he didn’t ask as a box-ticking exercise but gave it as a reason for withdrawing vital medication.
