Re: Is anyone else still on clonazepam?

Good luck with the clonazepam elimination, Polar Bear. Wouldn't it be marvelous if getting rid of it resulted in more 7 hour sleep stretches? Leggo, for what it's worth, I don't find that cannabis has a particularly appreciable effect on my RLS urge to move. It does help to induce sleep but I have n...

Re: What To Do?

Best of luck with this, Tim. You have made great progress already. It may be worth checking your serum ferritin levels -- they can have a substantial impact in optimising the outcome when coming off dopamine agonists.

Re: New here looking for guidance.

Polar Bear, I heard somewhere that kratom is used as a clothes dye and in that capacity is not illegal in UK. Thus, if it is not for consumption it is not illegal to possess. I order it from Amsterdam from a website.

Re: Worried about taking medication for RLS

It was the same for me when I found this site. The relief and affirmation of discovering that I was not alone was wonderful and the support from everyone was highly influential in giving me the confidence to devise a system that is currently working reasonably well. I hope the return to clonazepam i...

Re: New here looking for guidance.

Kratom works very well for me. I take it for a few weeks and then use a neupro patch for a few weeks. My hope is that this will keep my dose on each at the lowest possible level for the longest possible time.

Re: Worried about taking medication for RLS

I have heard that the unpleasant side effects of gabapentin do wear off for many. I'm sorry but don't know how long that takes. I hope you find a good solution. You have had some great advice already. A cocktail of meds each at a low dose is often most effective (as already advised) but there are al...

Re: New here looking for guidance.

Just to say that the advice you have had so far is spot on and absolutely what I would have said also - though with less authority than the very experienced moderators and Stjohnh. In particular, if you do go down the dopamine agonist route, be sure to have a high serum ferritin and if you find you ...

Re: Looking for natural treatments

As Steve says, raising iron levels is the single most beneficial step most (but not all) sufferers can take. You could also get your vitamin D levels checked and vitamin B12 is also sometimes found to be helpful. Many people also get relief (although often temporary) from hot baths with epsom salts....

Re: Two hours of sleep

Funny; I just saw a post on another RLS forum from a person suffering kidney failure who has found a huge improvement in their RLS since they started drinking 2/3 litres water per day and an additional litre they are hooked up to overnight. They reported no RLS in about 8 weeks! I spent a week in a ...

Re: RLS versus Insomnia

Are you wondering whether there is a beneficial effect on RLS of cognitive behavioural therapy ('cbt') in a situation where cbt is being used to treat insomnia? It is an interesting question. I have not come across anyone reporting a positive impact of cbt on RLS but - as is frequently pointed out -...

Re: Bioidentical Progesterone...improved my sleep

Thanks yawny. I think I will re-start the cream and use like you do without taking breaks. I am not sensitive like you (tending to the extremely insensitive - which can be equally problematic as medications don't seem to work as readily) so it may take longer for the progesterone to build up in my s...

Thanks, yawny. I didn't think of that. Would that also cause the massive drop in appetite which I have also experienced? Maybe I will go back to my GP. I have had so many false dawns there that I look for reasons not to go ...

Re: Medical Marijuana

As a person in a country where there is no form of legal mmj, I would like to thank you, Peggy, for your detailed consideration throughout this thread of the various strains and means of consuming marijuana. It is impossible to know what strain one is getting with 'street' marijuana and we have no u...

'Sleep attack'

Does anyone else experience this? Out of the blue my RLS symptoms temporarily recede and I experience overwhelming sleepiness so that I sleep more or less solidly for between 30 and 40 hours. If I wake up, it is for an hour or two and then am again engulfed in sleep. If I force myself to get up I am...

Re: RLS and leg cramps

Can't imagine taking kratom in anything sweeter than grapefruit juice. I have finally re-established entry to my Amazon account and am going to order a capsule filler. Is there any particular brand that is recommended? I add my evening canna-coco-butter to a spread made of pulped hazelnuts, cocoa an...
