Re: Biggest fear

Deb, I'm so sorry to hear about the breast cancer. If at some point you had to be in a nursing home, you may be able to get an order to keep medication on your person. I'm not sure, but it's worth a try. I know they do that in hospitals, as in "we're not going to give that to you here, bring it from...

Re: Opioid withdrawal question

Fruno, I believe SSRIs causing anxiety and a whole host of other problems is not rare, but instead gets misdiagnosed as a worsening of "mental illness," hence the current epidemic of polypharmacy... QyX, I started taking the zoloft over a decade ago for depression. I'm only continuing on it right no...

Re: Opioid withdrawal question

Frunobulax and Rustsmith, Thanks for your replies! I learned from both. Fruno, I am suspicious that my antidepressant is causing the anxiety. I can't start tapering it until I'm off the gabapentin, but I am looking forward to getting off both. It will be a long journey for me since I can't tolerate ...

Opioid withdrawal question

Hello knowledgeable RLS friends! Lately I've been experiencing debilitating anxiety pretty much all day. It peaks around the time I get off work (I AM having a lot of work stress!). The only time I feel better is after taking my nightly dose of oxycodone 10 mg for the PMLS/RLS. Therefore, I was wond...

Re: Stopping Gabapentin

Yes, all kinds of crazy withdrawals from gabapentin. Withdrawals can be (are?) paradoxical. Whatever effect you were getting relief from with the medication, can worsen and become severe in withdrawal.

I kept going off it. Very slowly, at a crawl. Microtapering.

Re: Just prescribed Clonazepam - what should I know?

Do not recommend klonopin. Long half life means that each time you take it you're in a little deeper. Very hard to get off if you're on it more than a few weeks. My former sleep MD gave it too me and I'm very lucky I didn't try it for long. I've had a horrible time with gabapentin, been tapering lon...

Re: Questions re Opioid Withdrawal

Thanks for your responses. Yeah, I don't have any desire to stop taking it right now. I'm happy it's working. Agree that I shouldn't go looking for borrowed trouble. It's just upsetting to be given misinformation. Oh well, if I have to go off it at some point, I know I will already be a withdrawal v...

Questions re Opioid Withdrawal

Hi all, I take 10 mg oxycodone at bedtime which is working very well for my RLS. I was reassured by the MD that I wouldn't have withdrawal problems if I ever wanted to get off it because the dose is low. However, given my horrible gabapentin withdrawal issue, and the fact that I have a sensitive ner...

I've had that reaction to anesthesia before. It's miserable.

Re: Can some one help me please?

If you are taking gabapentin irregularly and at inconsistent doses, that could be compounding your problem. During gabapentin withdrawal, I had increased restlessness, muscle spasms, etc. You may not have had enough of it to cause a similar withdrawal reaction, but it's worth mentioning.

Re: Started gabapenten - no relief

Oh legs, I'm so sorry you had to endure a taper from pregalbin! Glad you are off now. If I understand correctly, the startling in these drug withdrawal cases results from an imbalance between neurotransmitters gaba and glutamate. Too much glutamate and not enough gaba as a result of withdrawal of th...

Re: Started gabapenten - no relief

I am awake so much at night. I didn't think it was the gabapentin. Just thought I'd ask. I have my methadone spaced out over 24 hours. Thanks everyone he other thing is deb, methadone and gabapentin have a moderate interaction according to drugs.com. You could be having a paradoxical reaction to ha...

Re: Started gabapenten - no relief

It's a nightmare, Ann. It will probably be a few years. I tried to speed it up again and got bad results, so slow & steady is going to be the method. It's not worth it. Really bad things can happen when the nervous system is in a state of hyperresponsiveness like that. In rare cases the person can b...

Re: Costco refusing to fill rx

Well I've thought that I would benefit from a move to Germany for some time now. However that's not in the cards. :( Thanks all for your support. MD did speak to them and set them straight. But I'll see if I can actually pick it up next month. I think that most of the people dying are not getting th...
