Re: My RLS nightmare after surgery
According to my doctor the anesthesia used was Propofol. I don't understand why that would cause my RLS to go crazy!!

Re: My RLS nightmare after surgery
Thanks. I am a member of RLS Foundation. Is the pamphlet you are talking about Surgery and RLS? I didn't see where it specifically mentioned dipenhydramine ..

Re: My RLS nightmare after surgery
I thought that I had my RLS under control. After taking oral iron for some time to raise my Ferritin level, my RLS was much better. That is until I recently went into the hospital for an endoscopy procedure. I was not allowed to take my PD medications before the procedure. When I woke up, my RLs was...

Re: Foundation Webinar on Co-morbid conditions
Thanks to all. While searchng for more information, I found 2 helpful videos when asking " is there a link between iron levels and RLS?" The videos are by Dr. Richard Allen who apparently works with Dr. Earely out of John Hopkins. His work seems to indicate that there is valuable information to be h...

Re: Foundation Webinar on Co-morbid conditions
Thanks for your reply. But I am confused. If what you say is true, why does the Paper put out by RLS.Org -Understanding Iron & Restless Leg Symdrome- (along with so many other articles talking about relationship between RLS and low brain Ferritin ) stress the importance of testing blood iron. I quot...

Re: Foundation Webinar on Co-morbid conditions
I agree that this was a really informative webinar. However, I am a little confused. It is my understanding that most RLS patients have low Ferritin levels in the brain. I have heard discussion that our Ferritin levels should be over 100. But Dr. Ondo said that Ferritin levels can be artificially el...

Re: best iron suppliment to increase ferritin levels?
I had to stop taking iron for now as my lower intestines just couldn't handle it. Like you said, yawny, I was doing fine and then suddenly I really felt sick. I'm trying to get everything back to normal and then will try again. My challenge is that I take Sinemt for my PD and it also upsets my stoma...

Re: Changing my diet may have solved my RLS
Interesting. I find that if I eat too much red meat for dinner, it really sets off my RLS at bedtime. That makes no sense to me at all.

Re: best iron suppliment to increase ferritin levels?
What digestive enzymes do you take? I had to stop iron for now as it was causing problems with lower intestines.

Re: best iron suppliment to increase ferritin levels?
thanks for the reply. But how is it possible to take iron 3 x a day on empty stomach. My research showed you should take it 2 hours after eating and not eat for 2 more hours.,

best iron suppliment to increase ferritin levels?
Even though I have been taking iron supplements for 2 months, my ferritin has fallen from 65.1 to 62.1. I am taking Solgar Gentle Iron (iron bisglycinate) 50 mg every other day. Even though it is gentle on my stomach, not increasing my GERD or constipation, it does not seem to improve my ferritin le...

Re: Changing my diet may have solved my RLS
Thanks so much for clarifying that, Rustsmith. I wonder why my PC insists that the best way to absorb the most iron is to take it every other day. Are their different expert opinions on this?

Re: Changing my diet may have solved my RLS
Badnights, I'm a little confused. If iron isn't absorbed unless your blood levels are low, how does taking iron everey day help?

Re: Changing my diet may have solved my RLS
Thanks for the replies. I am aware of the augmentation issues related to Sinemt. Unfortunately, I need to take Sinemt in order to function, so have no choice in the matter. I did listen to the Webinar on iron and RLS, but just didn't remember the comment about taking the iron every other day. I do t...
