Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

@crackedvessel I think it's important to have your story here, so that people know that augmentation can be treated that way (by lowering the dose of the DA and toughing it out, then raising it again), at least for some people. Another thing you might successfully try is switching DAs when you firs...

Thanks. I feel the best I've felt in years. I'll keep you posted on my visit with the RLS specialist.

Re: New to Site but not to RLS

I also had these same symptoms while on 4mg of Requip. I was in a drugged state all the time. I would fall asleep sitting at the computer, meetings, driving while stopped at stoplights, etc. I had terrible augmentation from Mirapex and Requip so I'm no longer on either of those drugs. I feel so much...

Re: Getting off of Requip due to augmentation

I'm glad you have found a combination that is working for you. The thought of going thru augmentation again is terrible. I feel SO much better being off the Requip. I'm taking Lyrica 100mg and Oxycontin 10mg which has made me virtually RLS free:) Once in a while I have some breakthrough RLS but it's...

Re: RLS and Increasing Circulation in Legs

I've always had RLS in my thighs. It has never affected my calves. I also get it in my arms. I can not get a pedicure in the evening. I also notice that when I go around lunch time for a pedicure that the massage gets my RLS started. Pedicures and wine together is also a big no-no. Any time I drink ...

Re: Hyper Alertness

[quote="Ladyslider"]I took my Oxycontin at 4:00PM today. I'm hoping by the time I go to bed around 10:00PM the hyper alertness will ben worn off and I can sleep. My alarm goes off at 5:00am. So if I don't get to sleep pretty soon or wake up restless (which happens a lot) I am functioning o...

Re: Process for going to a Referral Center

I will give him a call and get in to see him as soon as possible. This is encouraging. I also pace when attending conferences, church, etc if I'm not medicated. I'll keep you posted:)

Re: Hyper Alertness

I will need to set an alarm also to remind me to take my Oxycontin earlier in the evening. I hope by the time you read this you have had a good sleep. I wish I could retire. Holding down a job is so hard with this disorder. I hate sleeping half my day away on the weekends or on my one day a week off.

Thanks. I found him! He is listed as one of the specialists at the Quality Care Center at Emory. I will give him and call.

Re: Hyper Alertness

Joining this discussion forum has been a Godsend. I've learned so much from others that suffer the same things I suffer with pertaining to RLS. I also have been having problems with hyper alertness after taking 10mg of Oxycontin. My RLS symptoms resolve most of the time but I'm wide awake. As mentio...

Re: Process for going to a Referral Center

Ladyslider, good luck to you! I'm going through a similar situation. I hope you can get the help you need quickly. I know how awful it can be. It can be hard to take the step to go to a specialist, at least it was for me. So good for you for doing that! I've been posting on this subject a lot recen...

Re: Process for going to a Referral Center

I cannot say anything specific about the QCC in Atlanta, but I use to go to the one in Houston and my clinic in Denver is in the process (I hope). When you call to make an appointment, they will tell you what you need to provide. In Houston, they asked for records but I explained that I had just fi...

Re: Process for going to a Referral Center

I have not been to any of the Quality Care Centers; Dr. Rye is out of Emory and is one of my favorite RLS specialists - because he HAS RLS. He completely gets what happens to us. If I could see him, I would do it in a heartbeat. Not to say other docs there are not likely excellent. I imagine there ...

Process for going to a Referral Center

I am at the end of my rope with dealing with RLS. My neurologist has done all she can for me and is becoming reluctant to continue prescribing the 10mg of Oxycontin needed to control my symptoms.(Also on Lyrica which doesn't seem to be doing anything for me). The closest referral center is in Atlant...
