Re: How many hours do you sleep?

What is it that wakes you up? The RLS or just random awakenings? That is what I am hoping that the latest sleep study will reveal. It isn't simple RLS and I didn't have any PLMS during the study that showed 45% sleep efficiency. I had some mild RLS urges once during the night during this recent stu...

Re: How many hours do you sleep?

Sleep is more complex than most people think. There are several stages, and only the deeper stages give refreshing sleep. So a person can sleep 8 hours and still not be refreshed. It is not easy to determine how long each stage of sleep lasts for a particular individual. I spent a year monitoring m...

Re: How many hours do you sleep?

4 hours average the last two weeks... i did get extra sleep using more twice the prescribed amount of gabapentin... from 1200 mg to 2400 mg. i am wondering if the RLS is outgrowing the good affects of Gabapentin. i have really strong affects from RLS. shooting nerve twitches that literally take me ...

I get between five and seven, usually in three or four segments over nine or ten hours from going to bed to getting up.
When I'm lucky I'm only awake a third of the night. On a bad night it can be half.

What is it that wakes you up? The RLS or just random awakenings?

Re: How many hours do you sleep?

Between "sleep" at night and naps during the day, I spend between 10.5 and 11 hrs/day in bed. But my sleep study last year found that it takes me about an hour to actually fall asleep and then for the rest of the night I am only asleep about 45% of the time. So for 10 hrs in bed at night, I am only...

How many hours do you sleep?

I’ve gotten very very serious about tracking my sleep. Recently, I’ve actually bought a high end sleep research device to determine what is lacking - quality or quantity or both. I’ve always thought my sleep quality was poor but, only 5 nights in, it’s clear I am not getting nearly as much sleep as ...

Pregablin or Gabapentin Making RLS Worse

Has anyone ever heard or experienced worsening of symptoms using these drugs? Both of these drugs can make you really drowsy which, in theory, could bring on symptoms. Similar to how benzodiazepines bring on symptoms for many people. I know the drugs work very differently, but I think the point stil...

Re: MCV and MCHC levels

High MCV is commonly associated with Vit B12 deficiency and less commonly with other blood problems. The low MCHC goes along with the high MCV. MCV is Mean Corpuscular Volume. This is doctor-speak for large red blood cells. MCHC is Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration. If the red blood cells ar...

Re: Reading results of Iron Bloodwork

Thanks Holland. I'm wondering if anyone here also has had experience or seen a link between MCV and MCHC levels? My MCV is high and my MCHC is low. Has anyone else seen this? On another note: My neurologist got back to me and said she does not have experience with iron infusion protocols but would ...

Re: Tinnitus from Mirapex/DA’s

I have had tinnitis for as long as I can remember, so I cannot comment about it being caused by Mirapex. However, tinnitis is listed as a side effect that occurred in a study of Parkinson's patients that was performed during FDA approval. There is a long list of side effects that occurred less than...

Tinnitus from Mirapex/DA’s

Hello, Has anyone experienced tinnitus after taking a dopamine agonist? I’ve taken mirapex on and off over the past three years and never had any issues; however, I’ve recently developed tinnitus after taking it for a few days. I stopped the medication for 5 days and the tinnitus subsided, but came ...

Thank you both for the quick responses.

@rustsmith @stjohn - how do you stay on top of this information? If one wanted to look deeper into this topic, would you have any recommendations on where to start?

RLS and New Drug Development

Hello - It seems like there has been a lot of research over the past few years regarding RLS and potential pathways that new drugs could target. However, it doesn’t seem like there is anything in the pipeline. Does anyone know what the biggest constraints are right now for developing new drugs for R...

Re: New Consensus Treatment Document

If I recall the conversation correctly, there were a number of optimistic remarks regarding IV iron. Dr. Earley indicated that he’s a short way away from giving infusions at ferritin of 200 as long as TIBC is below 45%. Another doctor indicated they are comfortable going even higher than that. It se...

Re: Massager

Getting 6 hours - is that good for you? It’s about average, as it’s broken into two chunks. I still have to wake up due to RLS, but the initial onset is delayed . 1-4, up to about 5-6, then 5/6-??. The quality is much strong than with Medications. I’m all of medications right now, but I get about 7...
