Re: Introducing myself

Hi again. This is my first post in almost a year. I've tried searching the Board but without success... I am concerned about a change in symptoms, first noticed ~3 months ago: extreme tiredness in the early afternoon (@ 1:30pm) [to the point where I'm falling asleep at work - not a good look!], foll...

Re: Introducing myself

Hi again. Back after ~4 months. Did a 2-month washout, 'stabilising' at 10-15mg of oxycodone. Still getting symptoms, of course, but how wonderful to be free of all the side effects! Such a treat to still be awake at 10pm! For the past 2 months, have been trying find the 'new norm'. Started back by ...

Re: Introducing myself

Oh, OK. That's helpful & good to know... I'll adjust my thinking in anticipation of a longer pramipexole-washout (a more apt term, me thinks, than 'holiday'). Btw, I am now in the 4th day of my washout. Currently taking 30mg oxycodone, over the course of the night, in a combination of quick-rele...

Re: Introducing myself

Thanks, Steve.

Is there a general consensus about the value of going completely off pramipexole for a week or two? I've read posts suggesting it will re-baseline receptors. My next Doc appt is coming up & I'm wondering if I should push for that outcome.

Re: Introducing myself

Hi folks. Time for an update. I'm now about 10-weeks into the journey of weaning off pramipexole. A pretty crappy 2-months, too, I might add. The good. I've lowered my pramipexole dose from 1.0mg down to 0.25mg. My Doc has agreed to add oxycodone into the mix. Ferritin now at 71 (up from 57). The ba...

Re: Introducing myself

Thanks very much for the suggestion, Ann. Will contact Dr. Buchfuhrer. I was rather surprised/confused/stunned/dismayed/all-of-the-above myself at the proposed withdrawal schedule.

Re: Introducing myself

Hi Steve. Very much a trial and error approach, I see. And not surprising. If it were easy, it woulda been resolved long ago. I *wish* my doc had suggested an opioid for the withdrawal. That's what I had requested, based on all the forum's descriptions, but he's being very cautious (the 7 clonazepam...

Re: Introducing myself

Thanks, guys. For whatever reason, I had it in my mind the ongoing, long-term med was gabapentin (by itself), and the opioid was only to assist with the transition/withdrawal from pramipexole. So doc's proposed approach seemed reasonable. But after further reading of community posts, along with the ...

Re: Introducing myself

Thanks for the responses. I've managed to make some reasonable progress in the past month. - Found a specialist at a Sleep Centre. Couldn't find an RLS specialist, but he seems RLS-aware & well informed. - My ferritin clocked in at 57; now taking ferrograd (325mg/day). - He is keen to help me ge...

Introducing myself

Hi there. Greetings from New Zealand. I'm a 52 yo male, and have been taking pramipexole for ~12 years. The original trigger was my wife finally having enough of being woken by my twitching legs. Growing up, I remember having twitchy feet, but not enough to mention it to anybody. I'm reaching out no...
