Re: Weaning off medications

Certainly a valid point. I'm pretty much waiting to see what is an exacerbation of the RLS, like a rebound affect, due to stopping methadone, and what is uncontrolled RLS symptoms due to the severity of the disorder. I'll be keeping in touch with my doctor. Hopefully she will have some thoughts.

Re: Weaning off medications

I have been on Neupro for about 5 weeks and pretty quickly titrated from 1 mg to 3 mg. Fortunately I''m not having any problems with it. Once I get off of methadone, I guess it will soon be apparent what is RLS and what is opiate withdrawal. Interestingly, I have spoken with a number of patients wit...

Re: Weaning off medications

Very helpful topic. I quickly weaned myself off of 6 mg of ropinirole several years ago. It took me a month of sleepless, restless nights to get back to my baseline. Currently I am weaning myself off of 20 mg of methadone due to increments of tolerance to opioids. So far, I have managed to get down ...

Re: Symptoms worse by season

Thanks, Steve. I somehow missed your comments before I responded. Those are interesting thoughts. When your bouncing around tie zones all the time, it would seem you wouldn't really have a circadian "rhythm." I agree that we get used to functioning on very little sleep."

Re: Symptoms worse by season

So just a long flight to a beautiful place, but no benefit to the RLS. Thanks for your thoughts.

Re: Symptoms worse by season

I am picking up on some old posts, but the topic seemed to fit. My RLS has always been worse in the late winter. My take on it is that it is due to the shorter length of day, not to the cold weather. Even before I knew what was wrong was called RLS, I have long complained that my energy level is low...

Re: Surviving overnight plane trips

It's kind of like judging people who use handicap parking when a disability may not be visibly obvious. I am glad you do what you need to do for yourself.

Re: Surviving overnight plane trips

Flights can be difficult. While waiting in the airport before boarding, I always walk as much as possible. You might try some compression socks in advance to see if they help. Definitely let the airline know of your condition. The last time I flew I was on Southwest, which, of course, does not have ...

Re: Suicidal thoughts

Hi Steve. I know you posted almost a month ago. I was up tonight - again - and read your comment. MY apologies for the delay, but I thought it was an important enough topic that I would reply. I have been seeing more and more about suicide and RLS. I just wanted to say that I hope you are sharing yo...
