Re: Ferritin levels and IV iron

I am now seeing a sleep specialist in Portland, OR who had their residency at the Stanford Sleep Center in CA. In our first hour long consult, she was very knowledgeable. However, I had a complete iron panel prior to this appointment which also tests ferritin levels of course. My ferritin level was...

Re: Where do I go from here?

That sounds like great news. I hope that the 20mg oxy ER works well for you for a very long time. And also good that you don't need to mess with pain management since they often don't understand conditions like RLS that are not classical pain situations where they can try other treatments to try to...

Re: Where do I go from here?

That is wonderful news. You definitely found a keeper with that neuro and hopefully your PM will be willing to switch you to oxy ER since regular oxy is working well for you. As for the description of the feeling, I tell people that language describes a shared experience and that only other RLS pat...

Re: Oxycodone

'Alerting', so that's why I don't like going to bed til 4:00 am. I thought I was just a night owl. I have to take methadone approximately 7-8 hours before I want to be asleep (and I can STILL fight sleep even then). I usually take it by 5 PM to have any hope of getting to sleep by 12 to 1 AM. I too...

Re: Oxycodone

Hello Trophyman, I've been on oxycodone for over a year and never experience any bloating. Just saying.

Re: Where do I go from here?

Yes, I liked the neurologist. He said he'd post the results of our appointment on MyChart but I haven't seen it yet. I did ask that he send the oxy suggestion to pain management which he said he would. PM appointment in 2 weeks. I also sent my neurologist's suggestions to my GP. I asked the Neurolog...

Re: Where do I go from here?

I had an appointment with a neurologist today. He asked me questions - particularly what RLS felt like for me. That was difficult to answer. My description of "boiling vinegar" didn't impress him, neither did wanting to crawl out of my skin. I finally ending up saying RLS just felt creepy crawly. He...

Re: Where do I go from here?

The doctor at pain management today suggested that the increase in symptoms since the operation might be linked to the chemo pill I'm taking daily. This is the first time I've heard this one. Anyone else has any knowledge of this. I talked about the iron levels and he said he'd look into it. My seco...

Re: Where do I go from here?

Would your doctor be willing to put you on an extended-release Oxy? It is a little bit more expensive but worth it as it would get you through the night, they only come in 10mg and higher though. I would ask your doctor if they would be willing to put you on a nighttime Oxy ER and see if they are w...

Re: Where do I go from here?

Also, don't be surprised if the doctor wants to wean you off of opioids. That is what many pain doctors do as they try to divert pain patients to other forms of treatment. You might want to share this Mayo publication with him/her at your first appointment. https://www.mayoclinicproceedings.org/art...

Re: Where do I go from here?

My GP referred me to Neurology to have my condition evaluated. I had asked for a specialist in treating RLS patients. I'm not sure this is what I got.

TY Betty. :)

Re: Where do I go from here?

I hope that you have better luck with the pain doctor than I had. When my GP was retiring, she gave me a referral to a pain management doctor. I made an appointment and a few days before the appointment, I received an email from the staff telling me that my appointment had been canceled because the...

Re: Where do I go from here?

Your doctor has accepted that 20 is normal. We know that an rls sufferer needs to be up around 100. You could show him the Mayo Algorithm in my signature, in particular the section near the top where it refers to this and to the benefits of iron therapy. Hello, not sure what you mean by 20. My ferr...

Re: Where do I go from here?

As I expected, my doctor said all is normal. Do I look for a specialist? I have an appointment with a pain management facility on the 18th so maybe that will help.
