Re: Vein Clinic Consult
After years of thinking that I had an oxalate issue, a urine test found that my cloudy urine wasn't from oxalate, and it explained why the diet didn't help my RLS consistently. No one can tell me what the cloudy urine is from. I started with nerve entrapment, then diet, so next on my list is venous ...

Re: Physical helps for managing symptoms
Some people have a physical element to their RLS, and others don't seem to. Also, there are many conditions that are 'RLS' these days, when they have very different mechanisms and potential treatments. RLS or Willis Ekbom Disease, is a sensorimotor condition. So if you want to treat your RLS using p...

Re: Diet
Since losing this weight, I have not had any RLS. It's been 2.5 weeks since my last RLS episode and I really can't believe it. It's got to be that the weight is not pulling on my back. My RLS stems from my pinched nerves in my back. Well done, welcome to a new world. There are many people like you ...

Re: Published Research - General Sleep and RLS (WED)
This study did not prove that lower leg oxygen actually causes RLS/WED symptoms; it is also possible that lower leg oxygen instead results from the symptoms of RLS/WED. Peripheral hypoxia in restless legs syndrome (Willis-Ekbom disease) " Peripheral hypoxia is associated with the appearance of RLS ...

Re: My Ten Steps to complete from RLS and to amazing good health
Surely there is an easier way to test out the LO diet to see if it's what my body wants? What about one of the LO cookbooks out there? Would you recommend one of those? There certainly is, you can try no oxalate or very high oxalate. No oxalate is just meat and dairy, although a bit of rice should ...

Re: Using tDCS Alternating Current to Stop Symptoms
I tried doing some AC on my head to target the motor and sensory part of my brain at 1 hz based on a paper using magnetic treatment. The short answer is that I won’t be doing that again. I also experimented with lying in bed, not moving during symptoms and treating then. I thought it was triggering ...

Re: Using tDCS Alternating Current to Stop Symptoms
So sorry about the COVID! Looking forward to more updates about this. My first time for Covid, and recovering slowly. I'm now placing one pad under the top of my leg by sitting on it, and the other under the front of the foot. I have the pads nice and wet, and can pump out 3 mA consistently at 80 h...

Re: Temporal Magnetic Stimulation, anyone?
This was actually the paper I was referring to, I must have misinterpreted where they put the electrodes. A lot of technical information to store and recall. It is easy to make mistakes. There are a few things I don't like about using magnetic or current stimulation for RLS. The first is that you d...

Re: Using tDCS Alternating Current to Stop Symptoms
I changed the frequency to the highest setting of 80hz from 10hz and was able to create some symptoms during some sessions. This is a good sign, as TENS is similar, indicating that it is interacting and stopping symptoms at the nerve level in a sort of 'sweet spot'. As also with TENS, it raises a lo...

Re: Temporal Magnetic Stimulation, anyone?
There is a paper evidencing that repetitive transcranial direct stimulation of the motor cortex alleviated RLS symptoms. Could you link the paper and provide a summary? From what I could find, targeting the spine helped, but tDCS on the head has failed in all trials to improve symptoms at night. I ...

Re: Temporal Magnetic Stimulation, anyone?
Magnetic stimulation is going to have a similar mechanism to tDCS. From what I can find, targeting the brain doesn't help RLS. However, I know an account of someone having magnetic treatment (PEMF) on their legs and it helped. I use tDCS in AC mode on my legs and it stops symptoms when they happen, ...

"After 15 days 37 patients (54.4%) shown no RLS (“0” mark), 20 patients (29.4%) shown mild and the rest 11 patients (16.1%) presented with moderate RLS." Not seen by those reporting use of potassium on forums, but worth a try. I found potassium chloride helped my sleep at 1gm twice daily better tha...

Using tDCS Alternating Current to Stop Symptoms
I have used lots of different physical treatments over the years, with the success based on where the trigger points and symptoms are. Compressing the nerves has worked to a degree but is difficult and takes a fair amount of time and effort; being disruptive when trying in the middle of the night wh...

Re: My Ten Steps to complete from RLS and to amazing good health
My question is: If I water/black coffee fast for 4-5 days, (making sure the water is fluoride free and the coffee is not instant), do you think that would cause a Oxalate dump, therefore letting me see if, in fact, something in my diet is causing the RLS? Can those stores and other cellular stores ...

Re: MTHFR Gene Mutation
On the subject of the placebo, and the nocebo... It is interesting to look in detail at drug trials for the placebo group. The rate of good and bad effects is hard to get your head around as so many people report some effect. As Rustsmith correctly states, the results for some anti-depressants being...
