Re: Another year of relief

Here's my experience so far with a low oxalate diet. I'm into week 8. It's been a rollercoaster. The first week I had some surprising relief. I eased into the low oxalate diet as suggested and gradually eliminated all high/med oxalate food. Now I have a very strict diet of no processed food, almost ...

Re: Another year of relief

I've been on a low oxalate diet for about 3 weeks, had ups and downs, but now starting to feel really good, no sign of RLS for 3 days, and I'm off all medication. I've been careful what I eat without going overboard. It's just a matter of identifying which foods have high oxalates and gradually fadi...

Re: Another year of relief

I have been dealing with RLS for over 20 years. Going low oxalate has given me great relief very quickly. I have had some days and nights completely free of all symptoms. This week I had a couple of nights where I was back up to 2 or 3 on the 10 scale but I slept well anyway. I also had one really b...

Re: Another year of relief

I have recently embarked on a low oxalate diet and seeing good results. I have experienced some nights completely RLS free, although it will take time to get the food combination right. I have been looking into the correlation between Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer’s and RLS and found one very inter...

Re: Is anyone having a successful 'drug free' experience?

Three nights of salmon therapy working a treat, plenty of sleep, symptom free... unbelievable! Can't wait for tonight's salmon!

Re: Is anyone having a successful 'drug free' experience?

Second night of great sleep -- drug free -- only a slab of salmon before bed. I'm going to keep this regime for a few more days.. tastes good too!! I'm not exactly sure how long I slept because I'm avoiding tracking time.. it was probably around 7 hours in about 3 blocks.. I've been taking focus off...

Re: Is anyone having a successful 'drug free' experience?

After 2 weeks of cold turkey, I had my first full night's sleep, and felt symptom free! It's only 1 night I know, but for me it's proof that it has been worth the effort. I'll be checking my ferritin levels next week. As for diet, I eat quite healthily, but one thing I've been trying over the last f...

Is anyone having a successful 'drug free' experience?

I have mid to severe RLS, and haven't had any drug for 2 weeks. I thought my body would eventually find some sort of balance, but that hasn't happened yet, maybe early days or maybe not possible, I don't know. Less than 3 hours a night doesn't seem sustainable. Now I'm just on the edge of coping; ma...

Re: Cold Turkey Blues

Now that I'm off pramipexole I'm finding I'm able to nap during the day.. whereas when I was on it, I tried but it never happened. Napping during daytime gives me a lot more options, and I don't worry about not being able to sleep at night. Like today, I was doing some work from home on the computer...

Re: Cold Turkey Blues

Why did you decide to get off the pramipexole? Exactly what problem did it cause? The first 6 months on pramipexole were brilliant... a miracle! Then it stated to taper off, and if I really wanted to make sure I had a good sleep before an important meeting next day, or a plane trip, I would double ...

Re: Cold Turkey Blues

Thanks for the encouragement and info! I had a second day of decent sleep, legs are low intensity. I've adopted a low stress regime, resting my legs whenever I can, informal meditation especially relaxing the face, that seems to set the tone for the overall level of stress in my body. It's weird but...

Cold Turkey Blues

I've spend the last 8 days trying to give up pramipexole... It has been brutal. I was diagnosed with RLS about 3 years ago (but had it for about 15 years) and had been taking 0.125mg every night. This was my third time to try giving up, the other two recent times lasted about 5 days, but after not s...
