Re: new member - transitioning from ropinirole to gabapentin

This has been my experience: First I was on pramipexole for a couple of years, I began to augment. Then my neurologist switched me to ropinorole instead. Then a couple more years--I began to augment again. So the neurologist had me slowly taper off the ropinorole and take oxycodone for 10 days. This...

Re: Augmenting on Tramadol?

I used to be on tramadol before the restless leg diagnosis. My primary physician took me off tramadol so I could begin pramipexole for RSL.(at that time) She said the two meds conflict. I didn't have any problem when I stopped.

Re: How To Get Husband to Understand

I hear what you are saying---my husband told me a week ago to suck it up--work through the pain. I never said it was painful. ( I have lots of pain--but it's not RSL) NOBODY understands unless they have same condition. RSL has affected both of our lives for sure, I do the best I can. I have learned ...

Re: Getting off Pramipexole

Several years ago I had to stop pramipexole as well. If my memory serves me correctly---my neurologist had me slowly taper off pramipexole while at the same time slowly begin ropinirole. It controlled my symptoms for several years. then I augmented on ropinorole. The neurologist then had me slowly g...

Re: Is this how everyone with RLS ends up?

RLS is a neurological problem. That being said---the severity can vary from person to person. It is possible to be managed but doesn't usually go away such as many medical conditions.

Re: When Do Symptoms Occur? And, For How Long?

I know when a reaction is starting because I cannot sit down or lie down. Once it starts, it can be quite some time before subsiding. (maybe an hour) I have to stand or walk and alternate often. This is much more likely to occur late afternoon or evening. The medication helps prevent the reactions.

Re: nerve injury

Yes, 2mg three times a day (extended release type) started with one at night. I think full dosage is higher than this (before augmenting last time I had more) I have to monitor myself carefully and let him know how I'm doing. I have a severe case and body weight is a factor for dosage also. I have o...

Probably so, It was a slow going off the ropinorole and then a slow gradual return to it.

Re: nerve injury

I told the neurologist my concern for going into augmentation again with ropinorole. He says it will take some time for that to happen. 2 mg in the morning and 4mg at night. Recently started gabapentin in addition. He thinks it may help the neuropathy in my feet. I have to let him know in a couple o...

Re: How long to wean off ropinirole?

I would say the weaning of ropinorole should be under the doctors direction. I was told to take low dose oxycodone for 2 weeks while weaning off. It was difficult the first 2 days, then I did very well for 2 weeks. But now he put me back on ropinorole again plus gabapentin, augmentation is starting ...

Re: nerve injury

Hello, and Happy 4th of July! Yes, it is unusual--- Started off with pramipexole then went thru augmentation, then ropinorole and again went thru augmentation. The neurologist started me back on ropinorole again (but not full dose and added gabapentin). This was recent--not sure how I'm going to do ...
