Re: nerve injury
Hello, I am now on Lyrica. Gabapentin was pretty effective for RLS for me. The main reason I was taken off gabapentin is; I have pretty bad pain in my feet from neuropathy and it didn't help with my feet, So, I am now using Lyrica---it has helped a little.

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments
I too weaned myself off ropinorole. The neurologist had me slowly titrate down and then he started me on gabapentin, adding it to a higher dose. 300 mg am, 600 mg (suppertime) then 45 minutes before bedtime 1,200 mg. for the first time in years I started getting some sleep. Of course, I could not tak...

Re: nerve injury
For about two years now, the neurologist slowly took me off the DA and increased the gabapentin. It has been pretty effective.

A very good friend of ours had pulmonary fibrosis and died last October. The pulmonologist told him he was a pretty good candidate for a transplant. However, he did not want to go through with it. So he progressed fairly quickly. You know how difficult this is since your father suffered with it.

Re: Augmentation
I had been on pramipexole for a few years, then ropinirole for five more years. (higher than maximum dose) I didn't think I would ever be able to get off these pills. I saw a new neurologist a few months ago who has experience with RLS patients. I am following the protocol exactly as he told me. He ...

Re: nerve injury
Hello Jerker, I was given a femoral nerve block both during the knee replacement and again when manipulation was performed 5 weeks later. (2013) It was a nightmare. I didn't know until after the manipulation that injecting my nerve (and leaving needle in there for duration of operation) was a nerve ...

Re: How many hours do you sleep?
Normally I get about 4 hours sleep. It's pretty common for me to wake up at 2 hours, then go back to sleep. If I get 5 hours, that was a good night.

Re: new member - transitioning from ropinirole to gabapentin
This has been my experience: First I was on pramipexole for a couple of years, I began to augment. Then my neurologist switched me to ropinorole instead. Then a couple more years--I began to augment again. So the neurologist had me slowly taper off the ropinorole and take oxycodone for 10 days. This...

Re: Augmenting on Tramadol?
I used to be on tramadol before the restless leg diagnosis. My primary physician took me off tramadol so I could begin pramipexole for RSL.(at that time) She said the two meds conflict. I didn't have any problem when I stopped.

Re: How To Get Husband to Understand
I hear what you are saying---my husband told me a week ago to suck it up--work through the pain. I never said it was painful. ( I have lots of pain--but it's not RSL) NOBODY understands unless they have same condition. RSL has affected both of our lives for sure, I do the best I can. I have learned ...

Re: Getting off Pramipexole
Several years ago I had to stop pramipexole as well. If my memory serves me correctly---my neurologist had me slowly taper off pramipexole while at the same time slowly begin ropinirole. It controlled my symptoms for several years. then I augmented on ropinorole. The neurologist then had me slowly g...
