Re: Treating hives without antihistamines?

Just to follow up. Allergist says I have petechiae, not hives--but it feels nearly as bad. However it's a much milder case than the hives were. It will get worse before it gets better, though. But I have a prescription for prednisone which I would like to take all at once if I could. Oh and triamcin...

Re: Emory Healthcare in Atlanta - Anyone Use?

Have a little more time to write now: I have not had severe RLS. It really only became an issue in the past 2-3 years when I tried to go cold turkey off klonopin (don't anyone do it!). After all the other horrible side effects left me, I was still left with restless legs at night. Early last year a ...

Re: Emory Healthcare in Atlanta - Anyone Use?

So sorry that I missed your question, Rick! I must do something to get notifications. I first want to correct what I said about his wanting a sleep study. Ann, the moderator who posted above, said that he has never insisted on one for her, and that made me remember that he was certain I had somethin...

Re: Treating hives without antihistamines?

Thanks, Steve and Holland. It's been a rather exciting morning with contacting my PCP, rheumatologist, and ob/gyn for advice. Then I tried the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Nurse Line for the first time--and she told me to get to the ER! That got me pretty upset, but just as I was about to call my husband,...

Re: Must I have a sleep study done?

Ann, thanks for your comment. It got my husband and I discussing the visit in depth and trying to remember why he was insisting on one for me. And that made me recall that he was sure I had something else going on like sleep apnea. I do have sinus problems and have had a device made by my dentist th...

Treating hives without antihistamines?

I sincerely hope this will not be the case, but I just finished a 7-day course of amoxicillin yesterday morning and am afraid I might be starting to have a rash from it. It was my husband who made the connection as I was only thinking of my lupus and sun sensitivity and wondering why I seemed to hav...

Re: Must I have a sleep study done?

Yawny: I missed that suggestion you made about contacting Dr. Buchfuhrer, but that's a good idea to ask him if he himself would insist on a sleep study. Thanks! Polar Bear/Betty: good insight about how having active RLS makes it so much easier to talk about the problems. With quite a collection of h...

Re: Emory Healthcare in Atlanta - Anyone Use?

Sorry I only just saw this post. I am the Disappointed Woman mentioned above. I went to see Dr. Rye 6 months ago. But the thing that started the visit out awkwardly is that I had just completed iron infusions here in Birmingham, AL, and my symptoms were already nearly entirely gone. I had made the a...

Re: Must I have a sleep study done?

So sorry, debbluebird, that I forgot all about this thread. I emailed Dr. Rye's office to tell him I really didn't want a study and yes, I did cite financial hardship among other things. Long story short, even though I kept inquiring over the next 3 weeks, the doctor never replied even though his st...

Re: Must I have a sleep study done?

Thanks, debbluebird--with my poor eyesight I thought it was dedbluebird and was rather shocked.

I haven't been good at standing up to doctors but will definitely give it a try! Appreciate the advice.

No word from Dr. Walters office. Will try again.

Re: Must I have a sleep study done?

Follow-up: I decided to see how I would even go about requesting an appt with Dr. Walters. Not sure, but it seems that I would probably have to see him in person for the initial visit. And I may need a referral from a doc. (Should I ask Dr. Rye? :P ) But after registering with the Vanderbilt patient...

Must I have a sleep study done?

I haven't been here on the board since Injectafer infusions last Sept/Oct completely cleared up my RLS. I saw Dr. Rye in Atlanta, GA later in October--had arranged the appointment before getting the infusions (ordered by my rheumatologist after he read an email from Dr. Buchfuhrer with advice). Dr. ...

Feb 21: Patron saint of insomniacs!

Thought you might find this interesting. This is Facebook post I made last year when I was still suffering from insomnia and RLS (iron treatments in Sept/Oct have kept the RLS at bay): When I was young I read a children's book of saint stories that featured St. Peter Damian. The two things I remembe...

Anyone using Symbicort inhaler?

Generic: budesonide and formoterol fumarate dihydrate I just picked it up from the pharmacy. Don't see it listed as a problem drug, but wanted to check with those who might be using it. My doctor thinks I have exercise-induced asthma, so he's prescribing one puff per day which I will do at least 15 ...

Re: My visit with Dr. Rye

Oh my, Betty! I will definitely be cautious about the ambien. Told my husband I definitely won't take it if he won't be around me the next day.

Thanks, Holland and Steve, for the additional information. Don't have time to write more now.
