Re: Must I have a sleep study done?

Thanks, debbluebird--with my poor eyesight I thought it was dedbluebird and was rather shocked.

I haven't been good at standing up to doctors but will definitely give it a try! Appreciate the advice.

No word from Dr. Walters office. Will try again.

Re: Must I have a sleep study done?

Follow-up: I decided to see how I would even go about requesting an appt with Dr. Walters. Not sure, but it seems that I would probably have to see him in person for the initial visit. And I may need a referral from a doc. (Should I ask Dr. Rye? :P ) But after registering with the Vanderbilt patient...

Must I have a sleep study done?

I haven't been here on the board since Injectafer infusions last Sept/Oct completely cleared up my RLS. I saw Dr. Rye in Atlanta, GA later in October--had arranged the appointment before getting the infusions (ordered by my rheumatologist after he read an email from Dr. Buchfuhrer with advice). Dr. ...

Feb 21: Patron saint of insomniacs!

Thought you might find this interesting. This is Facebook post I made last year when I was still suffering from insomnia and RLS (iron treatments in Sept/Oct have kept the RLS at bay): When I was young I read a children's book of saint stories that featured St. Peter Damian. The two things I remembe...

Anyone using Symbicort inhaler?

Generic: budesonide and formoterol fumarate dihydrate I just picked it up from the pharmacy. Don't see it listed as a problem drug, but wanted to check with those who might be using it. My doctor thinks I have exercise-induced asthma, so he's prescribing one puff per day which I will do at least 15 ...

Re: My visit with Dr. Rye

Oh my, Betty! I will definitely be cautious about the ambien. Told my husband I definitely won't take it if he won't be around me the next day.

Thanks, Holland and Steve, for the additional information. Don't have time to write more now.

Re: My visit with Dr. Rye

Yikes on the Ambien. I would only take when desperate and then only half or a quarter dose as I'm very sensitive to meds. (Dr. Rye kept saying my doses were "pissing in the wind." ;-) And because of warnings like yours here, I would not take one while traveling--hoping that I couldn't get into too m...

My visit with Dr. Rye

Yesterday I had a 1:30pm appointment with Dr. Rye at Emory in Atlanta, GA. We left early (from Birmingham) but with traffic, parking, and checking in still managed to be a little late. I had filled out forms for 3 hours the day before but was given a lot more to fill out there as well. Dr. Rye was n...

Thanks so much, Steve.

Dr. Rye's nurse responded this morning and said my husband could come in with me.

Forgot about RLS while at doctor's appt--new IBS drug

Since my iron infusions have made my RLS so-so-so much better, I forgot all about making sure than any new prescriptions would not make things worse. Today my gynecologist prescribed hyoscyamine for my IBS (since it's better, she said, for the IBS with diarrhea than Bentyl). I'm supposed to take it ...

Why recommend it for RLS/WED? Because people don't know the difference between muscle cramps and RLS/WED.

Re: Great news! I get to see Dr. Rye!

So many things looking up for you, SleepyBhamster! Yes indeed! Now if I could just do something about the piriformis pain that is also making sleep uncomfortable AND the headache I've been waking up with every morning... I tried to talk to my rheumatologist about those as well, but apparently he fi...

Great news! I get to see Dr. Rye!

I posted this in a different thread yesterday, but since it got no views, I'm creating this new topic. I am rather new to these boards: joined RLS.org in August, but only started here last month. Had considerable difficulty trying to get infusions for low ferritin, but my rheumatologist came through...

Re: A few questions about iron tablets

Good points, Ann. So, so, SO glad I get to see Dr. Rye in a few weeks! I was thinking of bringing him rye bread, but he must get that a LOT.

Re: Success!!! Iron infusions ordered!

I've got even better news now: received a phone call this morning from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia: Dr. Rye had a cancellation and could see me next week! I had thought it would take until well into next year to get to see him. I was about to take the appointment, even though it meant my hu...
