Re: muscle spasms

Thanks for your quick answer. I was suspicious that these are two different symptoms of different comorbidities.(I learned the meaning of that word after I Googled it because it kept cropping up in the after-visit summaries written by my various doctors). Things are looking up finally. I had my righ...

Re: muscle spasms

Update: I am starting to notice a pattern. Every day about 2pm the muscle spasms in the back of my right thigh begin and get progressively stronger until I am bent over grasping my leg. But if I take 10 mg of baclofen at 2pm the spasms appear but last only about a half hour. I also take my usual dio...

Re: muscle spasms

Thanks for the quick reply. I wasn't sure if they were closely connected or not. I was wondering if the presence of RLS could be intensifying the spasms. And I already have an appointment for Monday. The appointment is not for this problem, but believe me this will be brought up. The appointment is ...

muscle spasms

It's been a while since I joined in on this forum, but the last week has led me back to you. I have been having muscle spasms in my right leg and occasionally my right shoulder. At really bad times I sit hunched over cursing and crying. I am taking pramipexole 0.25 mg in the afternoon and 0.125 mg a...

Re: weighted blankets

I've not been on forum for a while and so just saw your topic. I bought a 20 pound weighted about 2 years ago. I got it to try to improve my sleep which is usually 2 hours a night. It helped my amount of sleep slightly and actually my RLS was improved too, a nice side benefit. Unfortunately, about 9...

Re: amitriptyline

I wrote up an update but it didn't go through. Here it goes again. The toe surgery went well, I got to watch it since it was done under local. Very interesting. That should take care of the osteomyelitis. Now I have a problem that I would like your opinion on. It has to do with my med., pramipexole....

Re: amitriptyline

Sorry it's been so long to get back to this. For an update, my neuropathic foot pain is not happening much at all. My left foot is still not healed, a sore under a callus, treated for 14 months, 5 allografts applied. The right foot is worse, the tip of the second toe has osteomyelitis. I'm scheduled...

Re: amitriptyline

Actually the neuropathic pain has been minimal lately. When it first started to bother me, about 6 months ago it was so bad I could not even touch the foot to the floor. Then it was less painful when it did occur. Now it is very, very seldom. For the falls my primary doctor had me drop one of my 300...

amitriptyline

A little history first. Last year I augmented on mirapex /pramipexole and had to wean myself off of it and then start up again at a lower dose. Things were going good, my dosage was .25 mg in afternoon and .125 mg at bedtime. Then I saw my neurologist NP and told her I was having some new serious pa...

Re: going "cold turkey"

I'm back. It's been a while but II have need of some advice. As part of my follow-up of my sleeve gastrectomy (2 years post op on10/14/21, lost 100 pounds) my provider always orders a boatload of lab tests. 2 of the tests that were abnormal were the pTH and iron. The iron is the one I really have qu...

Re: going "cold turkey"

Thanks for all the good thoughts and feedback. That has left me with lots to think about. I chickened out and didn't split the dose so am now taking .125 at supper and .25 at bedtime. No symptoms. My serum iron and ferritin have always been above normal range and I do take an iron supplement. As for...

Re: going "cold turkey"

Tomorrow is my surgery day. I'm having 2 surgeries - first the podiatrist is going to remove a bone in my left foot to relieve the pain of a tailor's bunion. Then the surgeon who did my sleeve gastrectomy 18 months ago is going to excise 2-4 hydradenitis cysts. And it is a day surgery and I will be ...

Re: going "cold turkey"

Badnights, I'm glad I decided to log in tonight. I saw your reply and I guess I'll be calling neurology in the morning. I have been taking .25 of pramipexole at bedtime for 10 days now. I was going to ask your opinion about what I should do now. The first 2 days on pram. I was totally free of sympto...

Re: going "cold turkey"

SUCCESS! I have completed my withdrawal from pramipexole after it augmented. It's taken me over 3 months, but I was totally off of pramipexole for 15 days. I took .25 mg at bedtime on Friday, and have continued that way since then. My twitching stopped Friday night and hasn't come back (knock on woo...

Re: going "cold turkey"

Wow, what a rocky few days, culminating with a trip to the ER today. Before I fill you in, please let me know if I should stay where I am or post under another category. Now, here's the story. Wednesday I took my last .25 mg of pramipexole (my friend has the rest of the bottle). Also on Wednesday I ...
