Re: Help Please Low Oxalate Fluoride and Medicine Changes

Hi Mel,
I forgot to tell you I also peel any fruits or veggies that I can and I boil vegetables. Plant toxins are often higher in the skins and seeds and boiling is supposed to lower the oxalate content even more.
Hope this helps.

Re: Help Please Low Oxalate Fluoride and Medicine Changes

Hi Mel, If it were me, I'd stop eating Rice Krispies for a few days and see if it makes a difference. My info says Rice Krispies have 12 oxalates per 1/2 cup. That's not a lot, but combined with other oxalates during the day it could add up. Theoretically the milk you consume with the cereal should ...

Re: Help Please Low Oxalate Fluoride and Medicine Changes

Hi Macadwel I'm so sorry to hear you are suffering. I have found relief on a (very) low oxalate eating plan. However, I do still occasionally suffer from RLS but I don't know why. I weened myself off all meds before finding out about oxalates so I don't think I can help you there, but I might be abl...

Re: Low Oxalate Dieters Please Read This

Just to be clear, I am self-reporting anecdotal information. I'm hopeful that together, we can figure this out. For almost two years, I've been relatively RLS free on a low oxalate eating plan. Because I still had insomnia and "buzzing" at night, I tried purified water to reduce my exposure to chlor...

Re: Low Oxalate Dieters Please Read This

Thanks, Jim, for all your information and for putting your theories out there for us to consider. Perhaps if we keep an open mind, we can figure out what triggers and contributes to RLS and then, hopefully, we can figure out solutions. I know that other people can eat foods all day long without any ...

Re: Low Oxalate Dieters Please Read This

Thanks for the question and I guess anything is possible. I probably would have discovered that electrolytes helped me as I've tried just about everything to tame RLS and those types of supplements were a good starting place and I'm still careful to hydrate. That's why I mentioned that you have to a...

Re: Low Oxalate Dieters Please Read This

Since I have been following a low oxalate eating plan, I have experienced dramatically reduced RLS. However, I was often still experiencing restlessness (and sometimes RLS) in the evening when trying to relax and after going to bed. I also suffer from insomnia. I kinda thought my insomnia was a prod...

Re: My one year anniversary on a low oxalate/salicylate eating plan.

Hi Everybody. Sally Norton has a new book coming out on oxalates. I have read some of her information and have found it very useful. I have not read this particular book but wanted to put it out there in case you are looking for more guidance. Happy Holidays! https://sallyknorton.com/toxic_superfoods/

Re: My one year anniversary on a low oxalate/salicylate eating plan.

Hi Catcrazy23. I began by doing an internet search and found most information about oxalates is in reference to kidney stone problems which I don't have. Most of that information is incomplete and some of it is contradictory. I believe there isn't much information on how oxalates affect RLS because ...

Re: My one year anniversary on a low oxalate/salicylate eating plan.

Hi Jim and thanks again for the low oxalate information. This information has saved my life and that is not an exaggeration. I also buy organic. If it's not organic, I simply don't buy it. I don't know why even organic asparagus triggers me. I have found I can eat pecans. I count them out and never ...

My one year anniversary on a low oxalate/salicylate eating plan.

Today I look back on one year ago and my desire to end my suffering from RLS. I really didn't expect a happy ending. Thanks to "notnowdad" and his excellent information on oxalytes and their impact on RLS, I have a life that's worth living!!! I have a few go to fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds tha...

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

Three plus months on a low oxalate eating plan. I have occasional RLS that can be walked off. RLS no longer prevents me from sleeping or enjoying sedentary activities. I have no idea why, it just is. I'm not looking for why or how. I've been making myself crazy for over 40 years trying to figure it ...

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

I've been on a low oxalate/salicylate eating plan for 2 months. I've gone from unbearable daily RLS that starts within an hour of rest, to occasional and generally light RLS. I'm still not sure what exactly I'm eating (still) that exacerbates my symptoms - or not. This may just be my new baseline. W...

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

Last two days I tried a little experiment and only ate white rice, cheese, eggs and meat. These are mostly zero oxalate foods. Last two nights I had zero RLS and no restlessness during the night at all. Last night I woke once to pee. It took me a little time to get back to sleep, but I eventually do...
