Re: Does oxycodone cause GABA receptors to down-regulate?

Well that's good to hear! I was reading about it last night and it sounds like an awful 24-36 hours and then some relief. I'm not on a super-high dose of oxy although I don't know if that matters. God willing, this will work for me!
Thank you Steve!

Re: Does oxycodone cause GABA receptors to down-regulate?

I wish I understood more about all of this. It's very isolating to never have a good doctor you can confer with, and I just can't wrap my head around all the different receptors etc. Ever since coming off pramipexole I've had withdrawal after withdrawal (first from clonazepam, which was and still is...

Re: Does oxycodone cause GABA receptors to down-regulate?

Thank you for responding! I was hoping you would. The recovery from clonazepam has been brutal. I thought it was bad going off pramipexole, but that was just the start. Were you ever on oxycodone? If so, was it difficult going off of it? I don't know where all these people are finding doctors that w...

Does oxycodone cause GABA receptors to down-regulate?

After augmenting on Mirapex, my doctor tried many meds (gabapentin, pregabalin, horizon, tramadol, Tylenol #3) and clonazepam. Then I was given oxycodone, which worked. However, it took me six months to get off of clonazepam and it's taken another year to climb out of that hell. For some reason, I a...

OxyContin vs methadone or suboxone

I’m currently on 10mg of OxyContin and 10 mg Oxycodone. (I split two 5mg oxycodone pills, using half to get me through the night when I awaken, and the other half to get me through the afternoon when interdose withdrawal starts.) My symptoms are covered at night this way, and somewhat manageable dur...

Re: Anybody know if there's interdose withdrawal from OxyContin?

Thanks so much for the response! It's such helpful information. You wouldn't happen to know what the withdrawal effects might be? I ask because I stopped taking clonazepam on August 30th, and had a lot of withdrawal issues from that. I'm trying to see if I can parse out what might be interdose withd...

Anybody know if there's interdose withdrawal from OxyContin?

Trolling for information here! Does anyone know if there's interdose withdrawal with OxyContin? I'm on 10 mg OxyContin and about 7.5 mg oxycodone. Also, two other questions! I just read one of the moderators say it's not good to eliminate all the RLS feelings. Is that true? What is an accept...

Re: Does opioid monotherapy lead to tolerance?

tvssnt468, I'm glad to hear that such a small amount of methadone worked! The pruritus is crazy. I've heard that it can be a side effect. I hope they find an alternate reason for it, or some way to alleviate it. Dr. Silber at the Mayo Clinic told me he holds methadone as a last-ditch med to use when...

Re: Does opioid monotherapy lead to tolerance?

Paul, I was thinking of printing and posting the sign, 'One day at a time', although one hour at a time would be more like it. And I don't have the zest and energy to actually do it right now. Agreed, people don't understand how wearing all this is on a person. I used to not understand either. I had...

Re: RLS Doc in Chicago?

Holy cow, am I late responding! (ViewsAskew,I love your husband. He knows how to take care of you!) Right now I'm pretty disillusioned with Dr. Munsen because, to put it bluntly, I feel like crap. I've finally gotten off of the clonazepam he prescribed a year ago, which never did a thing. So I'm not...

Re: Does opioid monotherapy lead to tolerance?

I'm really encouraged by your note. I was so glad to read that you know people who have been on the same opioid dose for years. If I get to twenty years on them, that will take me to ninety. That should do it! I appreciate the advice on pain doctors—I'll print out the papers, highlight them and offe...

Re: Good WED/RLS doctor in the Chicago Area

Oh boy. Thanks. I did have a video conference with a Dr. Silber from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota over a year ago. My healthcare system claims to 'partner' with the Mayo Clinic. But my neurologist has yet to put Dr. Silber's plan into play. He did prescribe Oxycodone after some arm-twisting. The thi...

Good WED/RLS doctor in the Chicago Area

Does anyone have a good sleep doctor in the Chicago area? Someone with experience in Intractable or Refractory RLS? I think they must be pretty rare; I'm in the Northshore system. All the sleep doctors say they manage RLS, but when I go to see them, they can only handle people with mild cases, not p...

Does opioid monotherapy lead to tolerance?

I need advice and help. I'm living in a constant state of anxiety and don't even know which med is causing it or if it's just my nature. My new, post-pramipexole nature. I was able to get an online appointment with Mayo (I live in Illinois) and get a recommendation for oxycodone monotherapy. My neur...

Re: OxyContin side effects?

Hi Betty, My serum ferritin is in the normal range; 45 I think. I was taking iron orally for a long time, but had to stop. My stomach just rebelled and I couldn't take any supplements. I could barely eat, hence the Mirtazepine. (I guess they developed it for seniors who would forget to eat!) Insuran...
