Gabapentin Withdrawal
I’ve decided I can’t deal with the foggy brain, anxiety and mental confusion that comes along with the Gabapentin so starting to wean off. Was on 900 and last two nights went down to 600, still slept good, but holy cow are the side effects during the day bad! Severely anxious, brain is going 90 mph ...

Re: new member - transitioning from ropinirole to gabapentin
I really wish more Dr's would be open minded to Opioids, Gabapentin has my RLS under control for the most part, but makes me feel like a depressed anxious zombie. Just saw a Neurologist at the Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire and he wants me to try Ropinirole even though I severely augmented on Pramipexole...

Re: Long term DA damage
Thanks Rust, I wonder if the DA every few days is for RLS control or for brain and dopamine balance? I pretty much have the RLS fully under control with iron, supplements and gabapenton, now I just have some slight PLMD. I’m looking more to control my mood, depression, agitation, etc… but don’t want...

Long term DA damage
Curious if any other augmented DA users have experienced long term effects after weaning off of DA's? I was on 3.75mg of Pramapexole ER and severely augmented and had to wean off of it last summer. Oddly enough after weaning and starting Gabapenton 900 mg per day along with oral iron, a ton of suppl...

Re: Low Dose Dopamine Agonist Questions
I have wondered why I have been able to take a high RLS dose of pramipexole for 7 years without augmentation. Maybe I have a low level of dopamine agonists in my system for an RLS sufferer. I have been taking 2.5 mg for 7 years. Recently I was able to reduce to 2 mg for a couple of days. I was up t...

Re: Mayo Clinic
Fly, please call the RLS Foundation office on Monday and tell them your situation. The quality care centers are supposed to be there for people like you. The Foundation may be able to pull some strings to get you help. Already sent them a message about, doesn’t sound like there is much they can do ...

Mayo Clinic
Talk about a HUGE letdown… after fighting augmentation and going through weening off of Pramapexole 3.75 we are having a hard time finding a medication that works for me. Since my current sleep Dr. will not consider opioids I asked for a referral to my nearest RLS quality care center, which happens ...

Re: Need help finding the right meds for me
Rustsmith, If you do not live in MN or a neighboring state... I live in Northern Wisconsin, about 3.5 hours from Mayo in Rochester, MN. I am about an hour and a half from Duluth, which is where I go to see my current sleep Dr, hoping that if Mayo decides that is best they can point me to a provider.

Re: Need help finding the right meds for me
Thank you BadNights and RustSmith for the responses. Unfortunately since the Dr. I am currently seeing won't prescribe Opioids I had to experience withdrawal from years of Pramapexole 3.75 the hard way because you are correct, Gabapentin and Horizant do absolutely NOTHING for that. There were nights...

Need help finding the right meds for me
After a hellish summer of weening off of Pramapexole 3.75mg been struggling to find a medication that works for me. Its like everything I try is about 80 percent effective and has horrible side effects. Just got done weening off of Citalopram and switched to Wellbutrin hoping that would help some, a...

Re: How long does augmentation last?
Sharkey, I am just a few steps ahead of you in the process. I was on Pramapexole (Mirapex) for about 15 years working up to a dose of 3.75mg per day and experiencing horrible augmentation. Started to see a new Dr that recognized my Pram dose was way too high and probably causing the augmentation, an...

Re: new member - transitioning from ropinirole to gabapentin
Thank you for sharing the updates bhud, I too am going through the same process. Was on 3.75mg of Pramapexole ER for years and have been weening off since early June this year. As seems to be the case for just about everyone getting off of the AD's we have been trying all kinds of different med appr...

Re: New Member
Thank you for all the tips and encouragement. I have been taking hot baths for years, and actually made it part of my night time ritual. Was not aware about the magnesium and iron thing, definitely going to split them up. Went to the Dr today and we decided to stay on the 1200mg Horizant, and added ...

Re: New Member
Thank you Yankiwi, I really wish I had found RLS society years ago, especially 15-16 years ago when my RLS started. I would be willing to bet with the knowledge on this sight and this forum I could have easily sidelined my symptoms with diet change and over the counter supplements. But when your in ...

Hello all, My name is Martin, I am an Aircraft Mechanic in Northern Wisconsin. I am currently weening off of an extremely high dosage of Pramipexole (Mirapex) ER, and it has been pure hell. As a kid I remember being teased because even back then my toes were always wiggling and moving around, and I ...
