Re: Pittsburgh Qaulity Care Center

I confirm the former entry. Dr Aggarwal was so kind and thorough and gave me real hope for the first time from any doctor. Others pointed out that this is a difficult disease (duh!!) and I should be patient. I think she's fantastic!!

Re: How does community feel about Horizant?

I have taken Horizant for a few months now with only fair results. I posted elsewhere (I think) about a resource for Horizant that is much cheaper...Truax Patient Services in Minnesota. What I learned in taking Horizant from my own research on Google Scholar is that Horizant must be taken with a fat...

Re: How does community feel about Horizant?

I have been on Horizant with less than spectacular results and am trying to get on methadone. But, importantly, if you want to try Horizant you should ask your MD to order through Truax Patient Services in Minnesota. The cost is about $60 per month. I also balked at the price and my pharmacy told me...

Hi Tim G
How did you get your ferritin level to 175? How much iron are you taking and when?

Physical helps for managing symptoms

I'm an infrequent contributor here but frequent visitor. This site has kept me sane and hopeful for the last 6 years since I discovered it. Now I am seeking some help. I'm interested in what exercises, stretches,, baths, etc. that others have found helpful for controlling symptoms. I've had RLS for ...

Re: Med transitioning

I am on Gabapentin 200mg 4 times a day and am decreasing my Ropinirole from 1.5mg total per day . I am currently down to 0.25mg by decreasing at 0.125mg for 2 weeks. It is going better the farther I get from the total and I expect to be free of it in another month. In the beginning I had breakthroug...

Re: Very Slow Taper off Ropinirole

I'm glad this taper is working for you. I am tapering also but a bit quicker...I reduced by .0125 every 2 weeks. I have also gotten off L-thyroxine (using Cytomel instead) and have increased my ferritin from 45 to 120 or so by taking 650 mg of iron on an empty stomach with orange juice. I think both...

Re: levothyroxine and RLS

to very belatedly answer very logical questions here: I have read that levothyroxine along with several depression medications and some antipsychotics are contraindicated with rls(J Clin Sleep Med.2010 Feb 15;6(1):79-83 Pharmacologically induced/exacerbated restless leg syndrome, periodic limb movem...

Re: levothyroxine and RLS

Thanks for the feedback. I'm on Cytomel now instead of the levothyroxine and am decreasing my dosage of the Requip by 0.25mg at one time without too much symptom breakthrough. I'm only on 1.25mg total per day but have been on this dose for 6 years and want to be off. My oral iron has been increased ...

transcripts of webinars

I am new to this discussion board and am wanting to collect information to pass on to my neurologist. It would be useful to me if transcripts were available of recent webinars so I could share with my neurologist.
How would I obtain these?

levothyroxine and RLS

I'm new here and am looking for information about taking levothyroxine . I have read that it is contraindicated for RLS but I'm looking for some confirmation, especially in a journal article, so I can discuss this with my neurologist. The Mayo Clinic 2021 paper discussed some medications but not lev...
