Leg Movement No Longer Stops RLS
Hi all,
I’m hoping for some insight. I’ve been on 5 mg oxycodone 4x/day (9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m., 6 p.m.) plus 10 mg OxyContin ER at night for about two years. This regimen used to work well—my RLS was mild or gone entirely.

Re: New device: NXT 100 ToMAC
I hope they will pay for it! I will be there shortly, and with the cost, I cannot afford it!ViewsAskew wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 7:08 pm Well, I just filled out the paperwork. We will see if Medicare will pay. There is a code for it, now, so maybe. If it doesn't pay, I won't get it. If it does, then I will.

Re: New device: NXT 100 ToMAC
I wish they had rental units of this device for people who cannot afford it or if their insurance does not cover the cost. Also, it would be nice to try it before you buy it, as it may not work and $6000 is a lot to pay for something you are not even sure if would work.

Re: Opioid Side Effect - Alerting?
My husband has severe refractory RLS and has been taking Hydrocodone 10 mg between 5 and 6 pm for about 2 years. It manages his legs very well most nights, but has him on wide alert for the next 8-10 hours with no sleep at all.
I had the same issues with hydrocodone and had to switch to ...

Re: Opioid Tolerance or Simply Too Low a Starting Dose?
Hi Don,
If your issues are mostly at night, I would recommend discussing with your doctor about incorporating an extended-release, ER, form of an opioid into your regimen. I don't know if codeine has an ER but several opioids do. Though the ER forms tend to be more expensive, I pay $39 for my ER vs ...

Due to the pain, are you sure you are not low on potassium? I get painful leg and foot cramp's when I have low potassium, I keep potassium tablets handy incase.

Thanks for looking into this for us! As a tens machine works for me, it just doesn't stay on long enough and I get tangled in it. It would be nice to have a device that doesn't have all the wires.

Re: RLS getting Very Bizarre affecting just one leg.
My RLS typically affects only one leg at a time and will switch to the other leg without any reason. It will also switch from thigh to calve and back.

pexj - You might want to look for a movement disorders neurologist as many of these doctors treat for RLS.
I used to see a regular neurologist but she wanted to stop prescribing my tramadol, which I was augmenting on. She recommended I see a Pain management doctor, I do not suggest this, as they ...

Re: Oxy dosage not working
It sounds like you are on instant-release Oxy. You may want to add Oxycotine ER, an extended-release that is very helpful for nighttime.
I take the IR during the day and then at night I take the ER and it works well, with some breakthrough but better than the IR at night.

Can you take the nasal spray fluticasone? I use this for my allergies and it has done wonders for them. I get a scripted but they offer an over-the-counter spray.
