Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

Hi Steve, I started a reply to you and my tablet went wonky and I had some odd keyboard. I was saying that I missed the statement about methadone keeping you awake early on when you were taking it. That's exactly what's happened with me. I've gotten fairly good pain relief but I haven't slept a norm...

Re: STUDY: Vitamin D Lessens the Severity of Restless Legs

Was deficient in Vit D for many years. This became a concern when I became osteopenic in menapausal years, so calcium and Vit D. were increased and I was even mega-dosed with Vit D for several doses. Now I maintain with taking 5,000 units/day of cholecalciferol. There was no thought of restless legs...

Re: Methadone causing Sleep Apnea?

medications and the opiate class has been the most helpful, with methadone providing 90% symptom relief. While I’m thankful for this, two problems have emerged: extreme daytime fatigue and sleep apnea. I was curious if others had experienced the emergence of sleep apnea with methadone usage and Tha...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

I hope you hear soon about Mayo. Mayo called today, they were missing an important piece of information. She said it would go to the review board after the record gets there and then the physician coordinator. I think that's what she said, I'm so zoned out. But I got on the phone and called records ...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

Thank you Ann. The long half life was beginning to dawn on me and I'm glad you brought that up. Percocet used to to work well for the RLS and other chronic pain that I have and the dose stayed fairly steady even with the augmentation occuring, adding and extra tablet was enough to get me over a hump...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

Wow, my state of mind was not good when I last posted about 10 days ago. I wrote I was on "dopamine 5mg", Methadone is what I meant. It's really not a good opioid for me. I'm using it as needed, 5mg at bedtime if I'm symptom free or have minimal symptoms. 10mg if the pain has gotten ahead of me. If ...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

I'm in a state of having too many directions to turn to but not in the direction where I should be heading heading yet. I've met with my primary who I've seen the most over time but divided up for a few months while he was on leave and I was in a different hosp for Pulmonary emboli. Back now to my o...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

Thanks again Steve. I made some headway this past week, going back to the PA I was seeing about a year ago, I had a contract with him for opioids that I had required for a long time due to chronic pain. This changed with the neurologist as he would only prescribe some related to the RLS. Even though...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

Thank you, Steve. That was very helpful. I only had anecdotal information about their use. It seems that Neupro is a last resort unless one has a bulging wallet. I'm into it for another month, I shelled out the $650. The symptoms were fairly bearable for about 4 days and then, although nothing was d...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

I submitted my request for an appt to the Quality Center at Mayo on 1-6-24. It said I should receive a phone call within 3 days, I'm making myself very available. I've made notes to keep my information accurate when asked questions that I'm anticipating some questions. My spouse and I have revisited...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

HELP! What should I do? Folks, I need feed back. Will I be on Neupro for life and drain my resources? Is there an alternative. I need input. Hello, I am so sorry to hear what you are going through! Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

Folks, I need feed back. Will I be on Neupro for life and drain my resources? Is there an alternative. I need input. You sound like a prime candidate for a trip to one of the RLS Quality Care Clinics. It sounds like your neurologist is knowledgeable, but doesn't seem to have my in the way of bedsid...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

Is it already 2024? I have to say, that 2023 lasted a long time. It was a year which I spent part of weaning off of a drug that I'd been on long-term, at a high dose, that created augmentation of RLS symptoms so that I was eventually worse off for having been on it and coming off of it created more ...
