Philosophy 101

I know there are people who are so much more worse off than me. I tell myself that all the time. Well, Jan, there' s the ol' saying: "I cried because I had no shoes, 'til I met a man who had no feet." But, for some reason or other that bit of philosophy doesn't transcribe well into the realm of pai...

Hi Jan, I was not implying anyone here was a "hypo". I was merely presenting the difficulties doctors must endure to separate fact from fiction. I have several acquaintances whom I would term "hypo's". I am not aware that I have encountered any in this forum. The people lingering in this website hav...

I've read in a goodly number of posts in these forums whereby the general population of doctors are rhetorically beaten up for not listening. I've had no incidences of a 'deaf' doctor that I can recall. However, the following ancedote might explain why doctors have selective hearing. Years ago my mo...

Jan,

My wife took 10 mg for quite some time with no decided benefit. She went to 20 mg for a short period, which I could not handle. It was as if she was PMS every day of the month.

Jan, Thanks for the response. Apology unnecessary. Yes, medications do affect differently. Without getting into lengthy details of how it transpired, my wife was on Prozac for three years for depression. She not only had side effects, but she was terribly depressed for the entire three years. She el...

Pat,

You intimated in two separate posts a dissatisfaction with the Sinemet. Would you care to divulge your displeasure?

Except for certain conditions where it is ineffective, the Sinemet has been a sleepsaver for me with no side effects which I am aware.

Reading the previous post, it occurred to me that I was most fortunate that I did not have RLS as an enlisted sailor in the U.S. Navy. On the aircraft carrier our bunks were stacked four high and were a mere 24" above/below each other. I think my welfare would have been tenuous with jerky, bouncy le...

BIO

I’m male and 59. I acquired RLS February 13, 2002. Yes, I can pinpoint the onset at that date. I had no symptoms prior to then, and when the symptoms arrived they took up permanent residence. After about two weeks of this nonsense I went to a web browser late one night and typed in “+jumpy +legs” an...

Ice Crunching

Becat, I'm still catching up on older posts. Back in April you remarked that you are an ice cruncher. My wife is now currently a recovering ice cruncher. On her last dental exam, the dentist claimed that ice crunching is detrimental to oral hygiene. The coldness, apparently, causes shrinking of the ...

Discussion Board Format

While I hail the existence of this Discussion Board, I do notice some aspects of format that are excelled in usenet groups. Probably the one which I find most deficient is the serial response format, as opposed to serial-parallel responses. That is, if posts A-B-C-D-E already exist in a topic and I ...

Yes, JumpyOwl, I am male and 59. And I have the body of a greek god (personal fantasy #407). Actually, I am in fairly good shape for an old guy who had to shed 480 pounds-------the same twelve pounds forty times. I'm not smart enough to take it off and keep it off. What was particularly notable rega...

Spate of elevated respiration abates RLS

In about my forties, I began experiencing difficulty sleeping during certain atmospheric conditions. Most specifically, foggy weather drives me nuts. However, certain low-cloud cover and sometimes rainy weather aggravates me. My body reacts to these weather conditions much as if I had consumed a caf...
