Emily, I experience the symptoms in my legs exclusively but the pain and discomfort came on very quickly for me too. In the span of just a few weeks I was miserable. i'd wake up and immediately start rubbing my legs vigorously, which I still do everyday. They were so tight and achey and the second I...

Also, Emily have you tried taking an Iron supplement. It's definitely worth trying. I take a multivitamin with 100% dv of Iron. It's no miracle for me personally but I continue to take it just in case iron deficiency is a contributing factor and I've heard that it's worked wonders for some. Good luck.

Oh Emily I'm so sorry to hear that you've had such poor luck with treatment. I wish Lyrica was my miracle drug but unfortunately nothing has proven to be that beneficial besides the narcotics and those are limited to me. The Lyrica does help me sleep and I value it so much for that but that's the mo...

Excellent, very well said! All of those points are very true for me. I could also tell him that my current dr. has given me free Lyrica and prescribed narcotics and tell him my experience with the drugs. We'll see if that becomes appropriate. Well, we'll see if I can even afford the appointment firs...

Ok, I found a good list of dr's who are supposed to know something about RLS. As I'm uninsured at the moment and as some of you have suggested, I would like to call one near me and ask to speak to a nurse and find out about how much the office visit would cost and how they feel about prescribing nar...

I'm really sorry Josh. I just called you Andy at the end of that post. Ha ha! I got caught up in my rant and I had just read something posted by Andy. Apologies.

Exacly Josh, and I'm sorry to hear that your doctor feels that way. My dr. has been talking about gettng me off of hydrocodone for a very long time. Yet when I need it and he knows i'm in pain he gives it to me because he knows in his heart that it works. What if I have to take a narcotic for the re...

Take This With To Your Dr. Appointment! - 'Must Have' info

So I'm always advising people to print out the RLS Foundation's medical bulletin as I think it's vital information for anyone seeking treatment. It's thorough but totally coherent. I can't imagine going to a doctors office to seek treatment without having a copy of it with me to give to the dr. and ...

I think the best way to ensure that you can get appropriate treatment from any doctor is to educate yourself first and go in armed with information. Before I went into a doctors office I printed the medical bulletin from the rls foundation's website and brought it in with me. I read the entire thing...

Darvocet (as well as Ultram) in the past has worsened my rls and made me very jittery and spacey. Just sharing my experience but anything is worth a try to see if it benefits you or not. All other narcotics that I've taken have been a tremendous help with my symptoms.

Just wanted to add a quick note in relation to all of this Ultram talk. I tried Ultram a long time ago for pain and it made my rls worse and made me jittery and spacey. I've taken it every once in a while since then out of desperation, when I ran out of hydrocodone, thinking maybe it would help but ...

Josh, the ironic thing is that I've been on hydrocodone for years. I'm already on that road! My biggest concern is eliminating as much of my rls symptoms as possible with minimal side effects from drugs. The point blank fact is that the narcotics help the most with absolutely no side effects for me....

Dilaudid is one of the most potent opioids in general but a 2mg pill is not very intense. It's only .75 mg more narcotic than a 5mg vicodin, which is the lowest strength dose vicodin comes in. Fidget breaks down the conversion rate somewhere in "newbie" post. one 2mg dilaudid pill = 1.25 vicodin. so...
