Re: Doses for Buprenorphine

Plan F is no longer available. I'll be shopping around for a different Advantage plan when open enrollment comes around.

The thing that blows my mind is that apparently there is a generic buprenorphine for opioid use disorder, but isn't available for chronic pain.

Re: Doses for Buprenorphine

I meant Belbuca. I said it right the first comment. It's all approved now by my copay will be $250 this month, and $160/month after that. On a Medicare Advantage plan so no help from the coupon program. How does anyone afford this stuff? My pain doctor offered me the choice between Belbuca and metha...

Re: Doses for Buprenorphine

Oh for goodness sakes. My doctor thought my insurance might hassle me about about the Buspar, so he sent off a prior auth form immediately. The pharmacist says that's where my prescription is stuck. He said it would cost $500 without insurance, so not paying out of pocket. We'll see if I ever get to...

Re: Doses for Buprenorphine

Today I finally got in to see the pain doctor I used to see years ago before Dr. B took over my care and then my local neurologist, who can no longer prescribe methadone. He said he would put me back on methadone and also asked if I was interested in Belbuca. I said I would happily give it a try. I'...

Re: MTHFR Gene Mutation

Placebo effect itself is genetically determined, I think by the COMT gene. It has to do with the "worrier/warrior" trait. People who have 2 copies of the worrier trait have robust placebo effects, and people with 2 copies of the warrior trait do not get a placebo effect. I have one of each, but don'...

Re: Frustrated with it all!

Jul2873, yes 30 is low for kratom, but is the usual level many hematologists will prescribe infusions. I've been able to manage my RLS now for a couple months with kratom and hirsuta, but recently had a couple bad nights. I finally got the paperwork into the pain clinic, so we'll see how that works ...

Re: Low Oxalate Dieters Please Read This

Hi everyone. This came in my email today from a nutritionist I follow. He's often a bit out there, but generally has well-researched information. I trust you to be able to decide for yourselves if this is good information about the possible link of biotin to detoxing oxalates. https://open.substack....

Re: jury duty

I wish you the best with this! I have no clue about jury duty in NJ. It's easy enough to opt out here in MN with a valid reason, like caring for an infant, or in my case having narcolepsy and having no possibility of staying awake.

Re: Frustrated with it all!

Good news for a change! After 4 weekly iron infusions, I can now manage the RLS with reasonable amounts of kratom, and don't have to take the ancient hydrocodone. I've been able to get 4 hours of sleep at a time, which is heavenly after waking every hour or two with the legs going crazy. And I got i...

Re: Frustrated with it all!

Four year waiting list for the pain clinic?! That's insane! Our health care system is insane, but if you can pay out of pocket, it opens up a lot of options. The opioid thing is all about government regulation and the DEA prosecuting and jailing doctors for prescribing pain meds. Our CDC came out wi...

I'm still liking the chi machine. I can fall asleep on it if having mild RLS, but notif severe. It gives me something like an endorphine high and is very relaxing.

A Study

The new Nightwalkers magazine had a couple interesting studies this month. Dr. Ondo in Houston has one on pitolosant as adjunct therapy for RLS. Pitolisant is a new narcolepsy drug, one that's super expensive and I haven't tried yet. The other study is on apomorphine in the for of dissolvable strips...

Re: Frustrated with it all!

I've been filling out forms for a pain clinic where I was treated before starting to see DR. B. I'm also getting closer to calling Dr. B's office and scheduling an appointment in January, if possible, while airfares are less than $200 round trip. Trying to talk the hubby into a vacation near the bea...

Re: Frustrated with it all!

Hi all, I didn't realize so many of you had responded. I just wrote a long update and accidentally deleted it. I had an appointment to talk to someone at Mayo today, and learned that my insurance doesn't cover them. My insurance customer service was no help and referred me to a "sleep doctor" who tu...

Re: Who is your favorite doctor?

I talked to a nice person at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and she informed me that my Medicare Advantage plan does not have a contract with Mayo. Mayo is 90 minutes away and the closest quality care center. I called my insurance customer service, to find out if any of the quality care centers DO ha...
