Nightmare

As dusk falls and my mind awakes, I wonder what type of night awaits, Will I be forgiven for a night of peace?, Or struggle with legs and no release, Maybe my arms will fight for sleep, Or maybe I'll lie awake and weep. I've gotten to know it's ways and tricks, Like a demon inside me getting it's ki...

Magneisum

Aha, this is interesting. It ties in with my Marmite and bananas theory. An average banana has 44.1mg magnesium in it, and the Marmite is just loaded with vitamin B. However, having a banana and marmite on toast didn't work for too long with me - and sometimes I think it made it worse. I've heard th...

Ann,

You've summed it up so well. A very thought provoking post that shows how RLS goes through the stages.

RLS Free days

Indeed, RLS free days are heaven sent. And sometimes I take them for granted. Thinking back over the past, and bearing in mind the very sensible ideas mentioned above, I'm wondering now what it is I should be looking at. Diet and lifestyle are things we're all very aware of. I'm led to wonder if the...

So what's different?

I'm lucky? I've had a good spell for, oh about 2 months now. Very little RLS anywhere on my body. So how come, that at one time I was going stark raving crazy with my legs and arms for hours and hours at night - and now - it's fine? This suggests to me that there is *something* which has changed. Wh...

Gout

Sounds like it could be gout.

I get gout occasionaly, but luckily not with RLS at the same time. That's a nightmare scenario.

Such a needless struggle

Hi Ann and all, Pete here (incase it 'guests' me). Reading your original post and the replies to it had me nodding my head in bisbelief. Of course I believe what you and others have said, but I mean that I find it unbelievable that these (so called) professional medical people dismiss your clearly s...

What is Marmite?

Sandi,

If you go to the posts above, you'll see what Marmite is.

In a nutshell, it's a savoury spread that you put on toast. You'll either love the taste or hate it.

It's made from brewers yeast, no meat products in it and not expensive really.

Hope this helps.

Another test

Well, last night, I didn't have bad sensations during the evening and I wasn't feeling at all tired. Which kind of upset my criteria. I went to bed but half an hour later I was with RLS. Two hours later I'd had enough and went and made some Marmite on toast. 30 minutes after going to bed I was aslee...

Marmite update

As part of my on-going 'research' into marmite as a therapy, last night conditions were suitable for another 'scientific' test. When I say that conditions were right, I mean that I do not allow myself to try the marmite test unless I can ensure that there are no other antagonistic factors, or, RLS r...

Double Trouble!!

It's bad enough having RLS, but, as I discovered the other day/night it can be worse. I had an attack of gout in the left foot which was one of the worst I've ever had. Lying in bed reading a book (I can pretend the RLS isn't going to start) with my left foot hanging over the end where it could 'coo...

Marmite and bananas

The other night I had what I think is probably the most vicious attack of RLS (in my arms) ever. When I say vicious, I mean that the severity of each individual 'wave' was so strong. These waves of creepy crawlies was so bad it almost made me scream!!! I have my suspicions as to what made it so, but...

Bouncing knees

Both people with RLS and people without RLS do this, so it's hard to establish whether or not it is directly linked to RLS. Quite often it's a nervous reaction. My mother used to tell me that it was a sign of sickening for something ummmmmmmmmmm . I do bounce my knees, but when I catch myself and st...

RLS arm relief

As I think I've said here before, I get RLS badly in the arms. In the past this has led me to do some pretty bizare things like shaking my arms in the air and trying to go to sleep with my hands pointing in the air or with them tucked under the mattress (you can do it if you try!!!)!! The past few n...

Cover up?

Hi Ann - and welcome to the best forum on the Internet for RLS support!!! I was reading the above posts - and some from the other adjacent boards, and one thing seems to keep croping up. Meds seem to work for a while, and then the dosage needs to be increased, or another complication comes along and...
