Re: Neupro

1mg is now considered to be the maximum daily dose of Ropinerole for treatment of RLS. It is usually started at a dose of 0.25mg. 1mg is a very high dose to start with. There was a time when 4mg was considered ok as a Ropinerole max daily dose but it has since been agreed that 4mg is much too high d...

Re: weather

We here in N.I. have the same weather as the Southern end of Scotland. It's a two hour car ferry across to Scotland ... the mainland. About a two hour drive from the port to the English border, our middle boy lives in Carlisle in England just over the border. Our area of County Antrim and in particu...

Re: Neupro

It's past history now but just to ask, did your GP start you straight onto 1mg Ropinerole or were you titrated up?

No worries about rambling...... :D
All of us are very familiar with the lack of sleep, the walking through the night and the frustrations.

Re: weather

Yes, BassetMom, today we are at 18C/65F with light drizzle and it's to be the same for at least the next week. Good for the garden :) A little lower than average but I don't mind at all. Isn't Edinburgh wonderful, that first glimpse of the Castle takes your breath away. We attended the Edinburgh Mil...

Re: weather

2BassetMom - in normal circumstances we have to go abroad on holiday to experience some really hot weather. On holiday it's ok, most places have air con and no work is involved. No one would come to N.I. or Scotland without a light raincoat/umbrella no matter what the weather forecast predicted. I t...

Re: weather

Here in the northern parts of UK our summer is very moderate, normally around 21/22C. This summer we had temperatures of 30C and sometimes a little higher. We are not used to dealing with this and our lifestyle is not suitable for it. In particular I am of Scottish/Northern Irish genes and the fair ...

Re: varicose vien removal and rls!!

Irmajs - you are comng off the Ropinerole/Requip without the use of opiods and are using some other meds, with success.
It would be interesting to know what dose of Requip you were on daily, and to know which meds you are using to come off the Requip.

Re: Antidepressants

Hi Donna123 and welcome. Yes, a number of medications can make RLS worse. In particular, anti-nausea drugs and sedating antihistamines (like Benadryl) block the brain's dopamine receptors, causing restless legs symptoms. Antidepressants that increase serotonin and antipsychotic medications can also ...

Re: Camping

Camping fantasy is of everyone sitting around a lovely fire, all cosy, someone has a guitar, and everyone is singing Kumbaya. Reality --- everything is wet, fire won't light, kids are crying, parents are bickering..... and in the background someone can be heard saying .... if I hear Kumbaya one more...

Re: Camping

We don't have anything to fear when camping here in N.I. other than the weather. Twice, many years ago, about 30/35 years ago, we went camping. First time we took a trailer tent. That was a faff... making the seating into a bed etc. Then the two adults and one child can't move or do anything until i...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

EeFall - the side effects look pretty awful.

I might bring it up in conversation with my GP bearing in mind that he is very mindful of stronger opiods and their ilk. At present I reckon I'm doing well having Cocodamol prescribed.

Re: World War III - I pushed the button

When reading todays postings here I went back and read the last two pages. What wonderful people we have here, finding such strength. I applaud you. I felt that my mother in particular was very cold, contrary and difficult, but eventually came to understand that it was not personal. She did n...
