Re: The Battle

Gasping for air - horrible feeling! Learning to handle stress can only be helpful - let us know what you do and how it goes. I find - for me - that meditation is magical. I like both tai chi and yoga - because they both help me get into that same place. Walking meditation as well as writing meditati...

Re: desiccated liver powder

They have desiccated liver pills that are much more convenient than the powder. I will be getting surgery this Thursday and have to be off ALL iron for 1 week. The desiccated liver has been a god send for helping me out. With meds, I'm sleeping good thanks to the desiccated liver. Also was able to ...

Re: Suicidal thoughts

You’re right, Viewsaskew, being heard is priceless . I think it’s often the best gift we can give each other—offering our full attention and really hearing what the other person is saying. And that takes effort to do, and sometimes alot of effort, at least for me, to set aside my stuff and just hea...

Re: Weight Loss

I've lost 20 pounds in the last month. The same 20 that I have lost before. I decided to do Keto this time. It's similar to what I have done in the past, just fewer carbs. I will go back to my other plan once I get this weight off. It is a combination of keto and paleo. Keto is just like Atkins. Ju...

Re: Cannabis

When I received the med marijuana certificate in CA a few years ago, the doc I saw talked about how many properties there were that they still knew nothing about. When there are so many variables and it has been illegal, it only makes sense that we wouldn't be able to tell much just by one variable.

Re: Suicidal thoughts

I’m kinda just putting this out there: for me, I have two types of depression: one is definitely related to opioids and the other is what I call organic—the depression that comes from within, decidedly not from opioids. Both types, if severe enough, lead my thoughts to suicide ideation. I’m in a mi...

Re: Yoga Helping me so far

As some of you here know, I moved to So Cal specifically to have access to Dr. Buchfuhrer. We started with a friend who lived in San Pedro, then tried Torrance for a few months, and settled on a year in DTLA - hubby loves the energy of the city and we both enjoy art galleries, museums, etc. But, a y...

Re: Methadone adjustment; changing to oxycodone

QYX - how is the quality of your sleep on opioids? This study http://jcsm.aasm.org/articles/030106.pdf pretty clearly demonstrates they reduce slow wave sleep. I’m so fascinated that a lot of other people here get great sleep on opioids. I’m wondering if it is just good sleep as compared to RLS sle...

Re: Weaning off medications

Very helpful topic. I quickly weaned myself off of 6 mg of ropinirole several years ago. It took me a month of sleepless, restless nights to get back to my baseline. Currently I am weaning myself off of 20 mg of methadone due to increments of tolerance to opioids. So far, I have managed to get down...

Re: Augmentation on Neupro vs augmentation on pramixepole

As much as I hate to admit it I think I'm augmenting on the Neupro Patch. I augmented on the other DA's and Neupro was the last chance. I currently am on 1 mg having come down from 2. I also take oxycodone 7.5 and that helps relieve the symptoms. I have found that OxyContin CR 10mg does very little...

SIBO - 4 facts from a dietician

I have no idea how well versed this dietician is in SIBO; she does mention research but does not cite it (of course, she is writing for an audience that doesn't likely care if they see citations). She seems to believe FODMAP is the only diet that will control the symptoms. https://health.usnews.com/...
