Re: Let's Talk Table Tennis

We just moved into a condo complex that has a table. We haven't tried it, yet....I imagine I will be terrible since I have not played since I was about 7. We have been regularly playing billiards, though.

drFred, what exactly have you tried - and, if you remember, at what dosages?

Re: tapering off ropinirole

DAWS is very unlikely with low doses. How much are you taking, Bronwen? Once you get to 1 mg or pramipexole, I do not believe there are issues with stopping it immediately - but check with a pharmacist to be sure. I'd check with Dr. B - email him as somno@verizon.net. He usually says to stop cold tu...

Re: Recent restrictions on length of opioid prescriptions

Oh - forgot to say how it used to work for me. I would fly to CA to see Dr. B. I left with a hard copy script written per CA law. Illinois law differed, so I would have to remind them to write it so it could be filled in IL (they had to write out the word for numbers as well as include the number). ...

Re: Recent restrictions on length of opioid prescriptions

So sorry, mudslide. Glad you have some, at least, to keep you going for awhile. I once had a 45 day stash - it was wiped to zero in a heartbeat, it seemed. I like California in some ways, but don't love Los Angeles...but I will stay here as long as I have to. If I have to pay cash for the scripts, s...

Re: Prescription Refills

If I wake up from RLS, I know it either because 1) I slowly exited deep sleep to stage 1 and in stage 1 could recall the sensations in my body when I awakened completely, or 2) I awakened and thought, gee, I'll go back to sleep only to feel the RLS start building before I could get back to sleep, bu...

Re: Refractory RLS

I have had it twice in one infusion of 1000 and a third time in two of 750 (mistake by the doctor - but my ferritin is high now!). I think I had InFed - but may be remembering incorrectly. I don't think there are many low molecular weigh formulations, so likely you don't have more than an option or ...

Re: Frantic...RLS 24/7

I love the sleep I get from opioids. But, I have no desire to take MORE opioids. I just want the sleep. Addiction is craving the substance so that you take more and do anything to get more. There is a small chance that you would become addicted. My dad died of alcoholism and abused drugs - it scared...

Oh, mudslide, what a pickle you are in. And, the record! That must be terrifying!

I am feeling really nasty at the moment and I want to respond. Will come back soon. Hope others chime in and have some ideas.

Re: Refractory RLS

When I was augmented and stopped pramipexole, it initially was better when I reduced it, then hit a point where symptoms increased. Given that your husband is taking a relatively small dose of pramipexole by now, I wonder if it might be time to simply stop it - likely no reason to prolong it and as ...

Re: Thyroid Levels and RLS

I can't say my RLS has changed at all with the increase in thyroid. Not saying it might not be related! There is some correlation between inflammation and RLS for some people. Thyroiditis is technically inflammation of the thyroid...so not a leap I'd guess to think that in some cases, increased RLS ...

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants

peanut, so sorry to hear you are having this much trouble To me, the good news is that most of us have no problems taking them. Even the ones that CAN (and I emphasize can) cause RLS in us only do so a small percentage of the time. At least 80 percent and upwards of 95 percent of us will have no iss...

Re: random rant about a doctor

The knowledge and validation I got from reading the article changed my life. Don't suffer in silence. Ask for what you need (an aisle seat for example). I felt similarly! And, excellent advice - it may not be fun, but it's worth it to speak up and work to find medical practitioners who listen, unde...
