Melatonin does not make me sleep. Valerian actually awakens me- I lucid dream if I sleep at all. Could be that these work differently for you than for other people?

Re: Rate of Ferritin Decline

Indeed! I need mine closer to 200. And some people get to 300 and still have no relief. One reason may be a missing protein - Steve has written about that - he does not have it. But even with that, there is still a lot of variability. Thanks Ann! I just saw my neurologist who saw the improvement af...

That definitely is true! We are looking at it as downsizing for retirement a bit early :-).

Re: Infusion Update

I had my annual visit with Dr. B on Friday. He said he didn't want to check ferritin until things were bad again, so I am guessing I will slowly just need more over time. It is a year since the infusion and 9 months since it started working. Ann, Does it usually take 3 months for the effects of an ...

Re: Power Plate

As all of you have illustrated, video can be powerful when you need to do something you haven't done and text cannot easily capture that. Working on a car, making a complex recipe, fixing something, etc. The rest of the time? Not often the best choice. But tell that to the marketing team!

Re: World War III - I pushed the button

My first foray into self-help and making my life better was reading the book Codependent No More, by Melody Beattie. I still go back to one of her tenets (EDITED FOR HORRIBLY SPELLING, LOL) when I need to. If possible, detach with love. When that doesn't work, detach however you have to. When we sta...

Re: Rate of Ferritin Decline

Hi stjohn, are there any other iron indices that will be helpful other than ferritin? or am I just stuck given that they are not going to measure the low iron saturation There are several tests of iron status, however the real problem is not so much the tests that are available, but that the relati...

Thanks! So many people say, "Why do you want to live there????" I guess we just all have our happy places in the world, lol, and mine is here.

Re: Painful RLS

It's interesting that both Susan and Ann felt the painful kind when they had low vitamin D, and the electrical kind once D levels were raised. I agree - have not heard anyone say that before. Both the depression and bone pain lifted when I increased the D. But, the depression lasted - in mild to se...

Re: Painful RLS

Fuz-mind, I have - sadly - no low minerals except low serum ferritin. I do get regular IV iron (have had three) and it helps, thankfully, but does not eliminate. I get about a 50% reduction in meds, which makes me very happy.

Re: Moving Mayhem

Oh, wish I were on the beach! Amy will be gone in a few days, so I will put the doggie in the car and drive to a park that is on the beach. We have a lovely walk there - and lots of Pokemon to catch, too! The sunshine truly make me smile - I just feel so much happier here - in an intrinsic way. Suns...
