Re: Moving Mayhem

Mayhem continues. Not sure what I shared...the gist is that we are moving to CA, as many of you know. We own a condo that had been rented for the last 6 years, and were staying at a house that is owned by inlaws. We were going to sell, but a unique storm of factors conspired against us, so we decide...

Re: Neurologist Has No Clue

Hello everyone: I live in NYC and went to see a Neurologist with the best diplomas from the best schools hang in her office. I do believe that she is probably good at treating serious neurologist disorders but she had elementary knowledge about RLS and certainly no knowledge about medications or au...

Re: Outburst at UPS Store Guy

Thanks, leggo. It is good to feel better. I bet my husband is happy, too, lol. I usually am social more on places such as this and less so in person. I need a great deal of personal space and alone time. But, I had gotten so I did not leave the house for weeks at a time and didn't even want to mow t...

Re: Process for going to a Referral Center

Thanks. I found him! He is listed as one of the specialists at the Quality Care Center at Emory. I will give him and call. Excellent! The first time I met him was at the first RLS conference. It was in 2005, I think. He and I were both pacing outside the room where someone was speaking. We chatted ...

Re: Not-so-friendly remimder re unmedicated PMLS

It really is amazing how much of a slap we get when we are late or forget! So sorry you had to feel so crappy. For me, it is more like Steve experienced, if I forget an early dose - the icky early withdrawal feeling. At night, if I forget, I am usually eating a late dinner (we eat between 8 and 9 mo...

Re: Process for going to a Referral Center

I have not been to any of the Quality Care Centers; Dr. Rye is out of Emory and is one of my favorite RLS specialists - because he HAS RLS. He completely gets what happens to us. If I could see him, I would do it in a heartbeat. Not to say other docs there are not likely excellent. I imagine there ...

Re: Another dumb pharmacy trip

One of the RLS specialists - Dr Becker, IIRC - once told us at an RLS conference that it was about 7% that get addicted and that this was controlling the other 93%'s access. The pharmacist - local - called my local doc. She was prescribing while working with Dr. B, so she was NOT at all invested. In...

Re: Outburst at UPS Store Guy

I was lucky to have a small consulting company; I did corporate communications, training, process improvement, quality, and the like. For a few years, I was slightly depressed to quite depressed. In the last year (since the last infusion and a lessening of symptoms, interestingly enough), I realize ...

Re: Another dumb pharmacy trip

All pharmacies do this - not trying to minimize what you went through! It takes such a psychic toll to be on this rollercoaster, doesn't it? I have stories CVS and Walgreens that would curl your toes, including the time Walgreens made ME prove that opioids are used to treat RLS. With studies. Thanks...

Re: Severity of RLS/WED?

While I qualify as severe, mine is not as bad as it was - it has been a very slow reversal after augmentation. I used to have it 24/7. Then it was about 18/7. After my third iron infusion, it seems to be about 16/7. Now, every day for more than 50% of the day is not fun, but it is better than the 24...

Re: It's settled! Seeing specialist!

I rarely have to wait longer than a few weeks to get an appt. But, I am not a new patient, either. Likely has something to do with it. It is one of the reasons I like going there.

Re: Outburst at UPS Store Guy

I have often wondered how I could do a job where I had to be present, on site, with a manager looking over me for 8 hours at a time. Not sure I could have worked as long as I did if I had not had flexibility.

Re: World War III - I pushed the button

Views, We have a lot in common. Also lifelong food issues here. Dad was also a drinker. My experience of abuse was largely emotional neglect from both parents. This too can really scar a person. So glad you have great friends to help! I have some but not enough who get this kind of thing. I have be...
