Re: Opiates and Non-Texas Prescribers

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I was able to work with my insurance and Walmart to allow for a two month prescription that I carried to Texas. This only worked because my pharmacists of the last 15 years advocated for me and my physician was willing to work out a prior authorizati...

Re: What DA to take

Julie - great attitude (from my perspective, at least!). I think of all the people who aren't aware of the alternatives and feel stuck and horrible with their regimen. How grateful I am for you and all the other people here who continue to educate me and from whom I draw inspiration.

Re: Esophageal Spasm and RLS

I have to make the appointment with the hematologist - I just receive the authorization in the mail yesterday, so I'll make the appointment tomorrow - hopefully they can see me soon. I think Buchfuhrer wrote Injectafer on the order. I don't have the results from the most recent blood tests - just ha...

YAY! Likely you were experiencing augmentation. And now you are not. That is wonderful.

Re: Esophageal Spasm and RLS

No - I never figured it mattered to get it diagnosed as I didn't think they could do anything about it. I have had them since my late twenties. Sometimes it is worse than others. Does anything else make your chest feel that way? Never occurred to me that it was something else. It isn't GERD - as I w...

Re: Esophageal Spasm and RLS

ALL THE TIME!!!!!

OK, that was hyperbole, but I do have it. And, now that you mention it, I had not had any in a long time, but in the last month, I've had them almost daily. That coincides with my low iron reading after the last infusion is wearing off.

Interesting...

Re: Attempting to get off Ropinirole - again

The reason to do it cold turkey is so that it hurts for less time. Remember that if the taper becomes too agonizingly everlasting. As hellish as it is to jump ship, I'd do it again. I did the taper - it actually was OK to a point. But, at some point, it was just endless hell. Betty, that may be a g...

Re: Characteristics of PLMD/PLMs

Deb, all the standard descriptions of the movements go out the window when medication side effect or augmentation come into play. If you've seen my sleep video, my movements during augmentation look nothing like expected. I was accused of faking it because my movements did not fit "normal"...

Re: Iron supplementation & Constipation

To add to the perineum discussion...if you have a vaginal canal, you can really feel it easily! I learned that when I was in college, having a pelvic exam and the doctor said, "Oh, you need to defecate?" and I was horrified, lol.

Re: Iron supplementation & Constipation

What iron supplementation are you taking? I have heard that iron bisglycinate (aka 'gentle iron') is less severe from a constipation point of view. Never heard of that perineum pressing solution before - it's inspired - so obvious - like slicing bread before selling it - obvious and yet elusive unt...

Never did I think I would be discussing this particular aspect of this particular subject.... and be happy to be discussing...

I do the same as PB. You can easily break it up - well maybe not easily, but without much work. You can tell from the touch what it needs to help make it smaller or break it up in some way.

Re: Experience with Injectafer?

Great news! I was able to reduce by about 55% after the second and third infusions. It just didn't last as long as I'd have hoped. Here is hoping yours does! Ann, do you know how fast your ferritin drops after the infusion? The IRLSSG paper recommends a ferritin at 8 weeks and 16 weeks post infusio...
