Re: Methadone Side Effects Question

In two ways - methadone alerts me initially. While taking it the way I do reduces it, it still can be an issue. Pramipexole causes me to awaken frequently throughout the night - if I take it alone, I start waking up after about 3 hours with increasing frequency until it is every 5 minutes or so. The...

Re: Methadone Side Effects Question

I find that timing is SO important on this drug. It takes at least 30 minutes to start to work, but up to 4 hours (depending on the person) to achieve full effect. For me, I take about 1/4 of my dose about 8 hours before I go to sleep, to cover the symptoms in the evening, say 6 PM. Then I take 1/2 ...

Sounds like a less firm solution than the medical grade support hose.

Re: Insomnia Research Findings

Genes can be so cruel. I inherited my father's ability to fall asleep anywhere, any time. Unfortunately, from my mother I got RLS - with a strong insomnia dimension. It's an unfortunate combination. My mom often apologizes that in a couple areas I got the worst from both of them. I figure I got the...

Re: Anyone Using Hot Tubs as Relief?

I think so many of us just do not have access to them! One of our members has one in his backyard and uses it ALL the time and finds it very helpful. Well, I went and looked at them after work today, now I understand why not many people have them. Man, those suckers are expensive! Of course the sto...

Re: First night of methadone

Yawny - his diagnosis was at the beginning of my journey. After years of all kinds of diets, restrictions and eliminations, including treating SIBO, I determined the following. To start, I had chronic appendicitis in the late 90s - not very common - and by the time they figured it out, the appendix ...

Re: RLS support group meetings

Hi SleepyCharlie! First, thank you SO much for being a support group leader! I used to have a portable projector because I did a lot of group facilitation and presentations. You can get one at Amazon, Best Buy, etc for maybe $70 to $200, depending (and much more, of course, but a cheaper one would l...

Re: First night of methadone

I bought my yogurt starter from Cultures for Health in Minnesota. They have a LOT of resources for all this type of stuff. Not sure what my mom did...but Beth would likely share what she did.

And, I can imagine how frustrating it is for things to work...then fail.

Re: First night of methadone

Leggo - he implied that it was bad to have it for insurance rates/denials in the future. But, this was 2004, I think and before the US ACA prevented such things. My mom makes her own sauerkraut - extraordinarily easy - and I make my own yogurt. It is an heirloom culture - do not know what is in it, ...

Re: First night of methadone

Oh, leggo....no fun at all. I have heard of c diff but have not known anyone who had it. I have some intestinal issues - GI said it is likely IBS, but he wouldn't name it that because he said it was a diagnosis I didn't want to have in my records - not sure why. In the years since, I have found the ...
