Re: Switching off methadone saga

Thanks Steve, we considered that but tramadol also has the potential to prolong qt so in my case should be avoided.

Re: Switching off methadone saga

Prolonged qt is a feature of methadone (and other meds such as citalopram is a common culprit) and can be dose dependant. Prolonged qt can lead to sudden death, its wise to stop the offending drug ASAP.

Switching off methadone saga

I have not been on the board for 10 years although I should have stayed active. I am 43, my dad is 69. My RLS has been controlled for the last 10 years as follows: - Failed both requip and mirapex back in 2005/2006ish, nausea and augmentation. - Neurologist put me on methadone 10mg per day in divide...

I listen to the peoples pharmacy on NPR and they said that Chantix had the most adverse avents reported r/t side effects of any other med since it came to market. I just hate the FDA more and more each day.

Levorphanol

Anyone else taking Levorphanol? I take 4-6mg per day. My doctor has switched me to this as what he feels is a safer alernative to Methadone. I lke it but I thought that Methadone was perfect as well. Actually it is stronger than Methadone, works quite well.

Methadone would definetly sustain relief for a long time. I would say 15 hours and then if I were sitting around the house I would have to take some more for breakthrough. When I work 3-1130pm then it sustains for 24hours. My doctor now switched me to Levorphanol because he has seen too many reports...

700mg/day is waaaaaay too much ultram to be taking. Max is 400mg day lest you desire seizures. What MD in their right mind told you to take that dosage?

Any MD worth her/his weight in salt would realize that if you respond to opioids (pain meds) that taking a formulation with tylenol in it is not wise for the long haul. Plus, long acting opioids are best for our situation plus some short acting for rescue situations. Hydrocodone (Lortab active ingre...

It is 1:30 AM and I am up and needed to take some of my methadone (I also took my supplements too). I tried to experiment by not taking the Vibe or the magnesium supplement at all today and now here I am up typing when I should be asleep. It has been a long time since I was awoken with RLS pain and ...

I am just over a month into taking it. The gal who signed my brother up to be a distributor wondered why he was ordering the magnesium supplement for me so he said RLS. She then said how a relative, I think her sister took it (VIBE) for 3 weeks and had enough of an improvement to mention it to her. ...

Supplement helped my RLS:

Hi all. It has been awhile since I last posted. I guess it is because I have found what worked for me (methadone) and feel that opiates are the safest and often most effective drugs to take for RLS. I just get frustrated that docs won’t prescribe them very often. I have now found a liquid multi-vita...

True... my wife is a redhead and works in the Anestesia Dept. of the OR. All of what some say is true, hard sticks, extra meds, etc.. She had a hyster some time ago and they threw tons of narcs at her in recovery and she came to the floor with a Dilauded epidural and a Fentanyl PCA (IV) and they wer...
