Thanks Susan, . I have spent the better part of today researching RLS, its symptoms....and also hyperthyroidism. I do believe I have RLS but a very mild form that is secondary to a thoracic spinal surgery. It appears to be aggravated only by extreme amount of walking. I now think that what I am expe...

help !!!

I am getting desperate and do not know where to turn next. Was diagnosed with RLS - PLMD over 10 years ago and put on Clonopin. I had a thyroidectomy 6 years ago and have bouts of hyperthyroid as well as hypothyroid. Began having serious problems with insomnia September 2006. Have been hospitalized ...

I got the Comfort Select 5000, sleep number bed and love it. I have arthritis in my spine from 3 prior surgeries and no longer wake up to pain. Don't toss and turn much either....when I am sleeping well. It is not hot but not cold either. I use an electric blanket to make it toasty before climbing i...

I heard it was Monday evenings 8-10pm CST (west coast time) which means that if you live on the east coast or central time zones you need to make time adjustments. I too have looked for a chat on those nights when I could not find sleep and there is never anyone in the chat room. I wonder if the EST...

sorry Aiken, it is sleep apnea and PLMD that are related....not RLS. I do have RLS also but that is not associated.

I will check with his office about the research. He did say that it was thought at the time of my first testing in 1997-98 that they were separate entities and they are finding that sleep apnea (periods of not breathing lasting from seconds to minutes) and PLMD are thought to be related. There seems...

I have been reading the posts on this site dating back to 2004 and it has provided me with a wealth of information. Yesterday I went to a Sleep Lab and had a polysomnography done last night. I was diagnosed with RSL / PLMD in 1997 but have had the symptoms of jumpy legs forever. In 1997 I was put on...

I got some good news today, there was a cancellation and I am going to the Sleep Doc tomorrow with documents in hand. I just am not sure anymore which is causing my symptoms as I have hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism along with the RSL / PLMD. The achiness, tiredness, insomnia, cramping are sympto...

I too tried the Lunesta 2 mg and found the after-taste extremely nauseating and could not eat for 24 hours. Might be good for dieters, but I am underweight and fighting to keep it on. Leg cramping is getting worse....more often but the Clonazepam seems to help but it is not giving me a restful night...

Wow, I am amazed by the variety of symptoms. I was beginning to believe I had a circulatory problem although I don't appear to have a circulatory problem. This forum has made me aware that my intensely itching legs, my jumpy - twitchy legs, my muscular crampy feet and legs are not "in my head" but a...

I learned something new today....never would have thought my legs and feet getting hot were part of my RLS. What about intense itching of the legs. Lotions, baths....nothing helps...just scratching until there are welts and it disappears just like it appears, for no apparent reason. Thanks all for t...

Thank you....although they are not exactly encouraging because of the long drawn-out battles with the SSD they are informative. I am attempting to hang-in until 0ctober 2008 as I can retire. With the help of the drugs and occasional relaspes of insomnia I am still able to function. And it is only 1....

Yes, controlled substance (gasp)....like I want to be a drug addict with all my other issues. I am trying to live the best life I can. And I am in the medical field, so am perfectly aware there are kick-backs for their prescribing the new and improved drugs. I have adopted a philosophy handed down b...

New like you...with questions ??

I have RSL / PLMD and have read so many stories from people who suffer from lack of sleep or no sleep, pain, chronic fatigue and depression. Has anyone ever been successful obtaining Social Security Disability ? Are we expected to change our lives, go without sleep to retain employment, take drugs (...

Thanks Susan for your support. I have not tried Wellbutrin, but lucky for me that when I am not hyperthyroid I am not depressed. With a couple of good nights sleep I feel refreshed and the depression entirely disappears. I believe my doctors are mistaking my anger and frustration at them for the und...
