Re: Dependency? Be Afraid, Very Afraid

EeFALL, I have a couple great suggestions for you, take it or leave it, just another experiment. I like the idea of trying 7.5 methadone. So, let us say before work whenever you take that one, just take 1/4 (2.5 mg), skip lunch, and then at dinner take 1/4 (2.5 mg) and you get a 5 mg number OR at di...

Re: Venting!

I feel for you, DBIRD, and hope eventually SOME doc will provide you with the drug you need (opiate) to kill this RLS nonsense. I take Tylenol-Codeine #4, and it stops the restlessness, stops the pain, and allows me to sleep good. It is about the mildest form of an opiate you can get, and yet even t...

Re: Venting!

JAKESMOM, there is even on WebMD a section where doctor after doctor says this whole anti-opiate thing is ridiculous, that as long as a patient has pain, they are NOT going to get addicted. And I'm living proof. Can you believe that just 50 years ago, with all the drugs they have for pain, docs even...

Re: Finding a good doctor

I agree with ANN. But LIZ, I have one more suggestion. An Internal Medicine physician group just may be able to help you properly and stick with you long-term until you get your meds straight. I think nearly all now will prescribe the two drugs that have ads on TV, and there are all sorts of reviewe...

Re: Venting!

EeFall, Let me clarify a couple things I posted. I so appreciate you postin back to me, and the others, one by one. Now, as to the Tylenol-Codeine #3 (I now take #4), when I first took it, I took it several times a day, to get it up in the bloodstream not ONE pill, but THREE pills. Later I went to f...

Re: Venting!

I know this. When I went along with RLS untreated for almost a year, I couldn't sleep well. Finally went to my regular family doc, she pegged it right off the bat as RLS and gave me a Codeine mixture, Tylenol #3, plenty of pills and refills, and referred me to a neuro, who confirmed diagnosis. I cam...

Re: WE'D/RLS name

^what was supposed to be up there? Views, I vaguely recall perhaps in Wikipedia, but not sure where, that I first became aware of the proper name Willis-Ekbom Disease, and seems to me wherever I saw it, in the article they switched over to saying Ekbom Disease. I cannot even recall if Willis was a f...

Re: The FDA is about to change our lives

DEB, that FDA site is a mess to get around in, but I found an email for our area (we live in the South) that I wroteto, and I'm sorry, I couldn't find that lis again for other areas to save my life, so maybe she would forward he others. Here's her email: joann.pittman@fda.hhs.gov My email was a jumb...

Re: Doctor's Tough Love

EEF, on the sleeping part, for SOME people, me being one, to be able to fall asleep and stay asleep, there's a natural medicine at the Natural Food Store called Melatonin, which is made from the same thing that darkens the skin from sunlight. I went thru a period years ago, don't know why, where I ab...

Re: FDA Panel recommends Hydrocodone drugs be further restri

You know, drug companies spend a lot of money creating drugs for people with chronic pain that will never go away. RLS is a condition where often it is painful, and also once you have RLS, you will always have it. So, what the heck are people going to do? As far as I know, and correct me if I'm wron...

Re: My Story <3

Gosh, Jessica, you've had a rough bunch of years, really has goofed you up big-time. I agree with Ann and Beth on their various thoughts and advice. I'd like to add a few things that might help you, too. First of all, if you have PCOS, then fertility might be a problem. So, a good OB-GYN is in order...

Re: How bad are your spasms

This post has been around a while. I wanted to add that it is the URGE to move that is so frustraing. And yet, even if you do the typical thing, which is to just go ahead and get up and walk around a little while, as sooon as you lay back down, here comes that dreadful urge to move. And of course en...

Re: Denial of Short Term Disability Insurance

I managed to read this whole thing, and I would have gotten in here sooner but I've been having some extra health issues. I am permanently disabled and got it on the first appeal letter. No lawers, no court. HOWEVER, even tho I have RLS, I also have mental illness as a result of a car accident many ...

Re: Narcotics and rls

Hey Reverb, Thanks for telling us about your experiences with RLS and treatment with medicines. All of us have had problems at times with docs being unwilling to prescribe what works. I used to take Tylenol-Codiene #3, and after ten years I had to go to Tyl-Codeine #4, which is double the dose of #3...
