Susie Q 7, Sorry to hear of your back troubles. I am soon to be 34 years old and have suffered with severe RLS since I was 9. My mother has suffered with it for probably the last 10 years. She also started having back pain and was diagnosed with her L-5 slightly bulging and had the surgery to have i...

My family has a long line of RLS sufferers, including myself (originally diagnosed with "growing pains" as a small child). My almost 4 year old daughter cries some nights and tells me her legs are hurting and when I rub them they seem to feel better (she kicks a lot at night when I check on her). My...

I have been on a very strict diet for the past month and a half. No sugar, no flour, no wheat, no caffiene, etc. and I do not feel any difference in my RLS symptoms. My legs still throb with pain nightly (worse when it's going to rain). I have notice NO change in my symptoms. I am now down to my goa...

What Mirapex does for me

I started out taking .5 mg of Mirapex. I am now up to 2.0 mg and my pain only worsens with it. I was wanting to give it a good try because it is the only medication that has worked for my mom (she has been on MANY!!!). Guess I'll try something else.

Wish you luck with it though!

bcattx, Thanks for your input! I was very upset to have my doctors' office call this morning and tell me they need to reschedule my appt. as the doctor is sick! I feel for the doc, but it takes me several weeks to get an appointment. I've tried so many things now that didn't work, as did my mother. ...

I would like to know what type of RLS is not painful as mine has been VERY painful for 24 years of my 33 years of life just as CC has described. I too was diagnosed with "growing pains" at the age of 9 and have gotten progressively worse. My symptoms are mirrored to CC's. I have not taken Mirapex, b...

Sara, How about this Miracle II pH Neutralizing Gel? Where can I get it? I saw the posts about the Montagne Jeunesse Tired Leg Gel from Wal-mart so I ran out that night to get some but our Wal-mart in Staunton, Virginia, does not carry it. I appreciate your help with this stuff. I'm game for anythin...

Matt I gave up smoking (cold turkey) one year, 3 months and 8 days ago. I too am 33 years old and have had RLS since I was 9. I do not feel that quitting smoking has anything to do with the worsening of RLS symptoms. I think with each year since I turned 31 my symptoms keep getting worse. I am going...

C, Sorry to hear of your troubles. I thought that we must live in the same town, but I'm from Virginia. The doctors here no nothing as well. I was first diagnosed with "growing pains" at the age of 9. I am now 33 and with time the pain has gotten much worse at it is RLS! My doctors also told me to s...

Sara, Thanks for giving it a shot. I went ahead and bought some for myself. My boyfriend will probably end up using it for his aching shoulder or maybe our dog, Tubby, can use it for his hot spots because it certainly did not seem to help me at all The last two nights for me have been almost unbeara...

Anyone tried Blue-Emu Cream?

My boyfriend heard an advertisement on the radio for Blue-Emu cream to aid in relief of joint pains. The cream costs $20.00 for a 4 oz. can. I was wondering if anyone ever used this to help with symptoms of RLS and if so, what was the outcome.

What works for one may not for another

Bellekodi, Glad to hear the Chiropractor worked for you. I had similar problems. I am 33 and had "growing pains" at the age of 9. I went to chiropractors from the age of 16 until I had my L5 disc removed last month. I NEVER experienced any relief from my RLS symptoms except when I ruptured my L5. Fo...

If you are crazy, you're not alone!

Tequilarose8877, I have not tried Mirapex yet. My mother did and had no luck with it. I was last on Neurontin. It did a super job of keeping me up all night, but that was about it. I've been hearing lots of good things about Requip. I have a dr. appt. this week and am thinking of asking for it. I'm ...

I would say you are accurate in that surgery could bring on RLS. I have suffered with RLS for 24 years (since I was 9). I had back surgery in January of this year and within 1-2 weeks after surgery, my RLS got drastically worse! I now have it every day, just about ALL day where before surgery I only...

Guest, As if being pregnant isn't already hard enough. I have a three year old daughter and when I was pregnant with her, my RLS really flared up. The most relief I found was also with a heating pad and elevating my legs with lots of pillows. I took a magnesium supplement which seemed to help some. ...
