Re: Legs still buzzing !!

I have an electric guitar that I can play* and listen to thru headphones and thus not disturb my wife. It takes my mind off the RLS nicely. Just tuning the thing can be distracting enough. I have not done this during one of those occasional long sleepless nights. At 3am seems like I only want to sta...

Firefox security warning

Anyone else get a security warning when logging into the discussion board? I use Firefox and get a "This site may not be secure" (or words to that effect) every time.

Re: Stopping pramipexole and starting methadone

I just had an accidental drug holiday last night. Didn't sleep at all, legs and arms twitching. I thought I was augmenting already so I didn't take any more pramipexole. Just tough it out. In the morning I noticed a pink chunk of something on the bathroom counter - the quarter tablet of pramipexole ...

Re: My new Relaxis

I'm finding out all kinds of things on this forum. I'm interested in Relaxis, but I was surprised to find out it was available by prescription only. It looks like it would work for RLS in the legs and thighs, but probably not for the arms? It doesn't look as though it could be used that way. I get R...

Re: Stopping pramipexole and starting methadone

Two years ago, when I completely stopped taking pramipexole and then resumed it after 5 days of torture, I was able to take 1/4 my previous dose (0.25mg) for a while. Then the dose gradually increased back to 1mg. I'm pretty sure the acetaminophen/codeine helped keep it at that dose. And now I stopp...

Re: Stopping pramipexole and starting methadone

Thank you Polar Bear for your input. Just so everyone knows, my remark about beer was meant to be taken humorously. I'm not drinking any alcohol. stjohnh, I've heard about kratom. I don't know anything about it. I'll check it out. So I received an email from my doctor. He wants me to set up a teleph...

Re: Stopping pramipexole and starting methadone

A couple of things have come up that changed my mind about taking methadone. That's right, I've decided to go back to pramipexole. The main reason for me to take methadone in the first place was to avoid the withdrawal effects after stopping pramipexole. The ultimate goal was to not take anything at...

Re: Stopping pramipexole and starting methadone

Things seem to be resolving with the family member. Thank you all for the input. Ann you are correct about decisions based on emotion and that is something I need to work on. What I mean is that my decisions are based on reputable studies - logic, science, one plus one equals two - and I just don't ...

Re: Stopping pramipexole and starting methadone

So now a problem has come up. The treatment plan from Dr B is working well for me, however I have a family member who is strongly opposed to methadone and to any doctor who would prescribe it. It doesn't matter that it works, it matters that I'm becoming a methadone "addict." Like there is...

Re: Stopping pramipexole and starting methadone

Here's the day after my first night on methadone report: I slept like a baby - screaming fits all night long and incontinent. Just kidding! No RLS whatsoever and I slept very well. I'm not feeling hung over either which was a concern. I wasn't sure what to expect with methadone but it doesn't seem t...

Re: Stopping pramipexole and starting methadone

Ann, I stayed at the Best Western Golden Sails motel in Long Beach for a couple of nights. Nice place and reasonable. Generous breakfast too. I'm back in Oregon now. Steve, thanks for sharing your experience. Encouraging. I took my first dose at 7pm and the second dose 30 min ago, around 10:30pm. I ...

Stopping pramipexole and starting methadone

I saw Dr B three days ago at his Downey office. He's a very nice person and, most of all, he's very encouraging. He gave me a Rx for methadone and I'm to quit the Mirapex 1mg at bedtime and also the acetaminophen/codeine, both of which I've taken for about 12 years. Kind of a side note: there's a ph...

Wellbutrin (bupropion)

I've been on bupropion for about 10 years. Occasionally I'll miss a dose or two and not really notice any decline in mood so I thought I'd try to get off it. I didn't take it for a few days (yes I know, not advisable w/o doctor supervision) and my mood pretty much stayed the same. However, my RLS sy...

Restless Legs Syndrome Blues

Songwriting is a hobby of mine. I sat down to write something in the traditional 12 bar blues style and it occurred to me that RLS would certainly be a good subject for a blues song. So here it is: Restless Legs Syndrome Blues. The lyrics pretty much describe my life before I was put on pramipexole....

Re: Questions about Certified Quality Care centers

Thanks Steve. I knew it would probably take a while to get in to see a doctor. A couple of months is ok. For whatever reason, my RLS symptoms go up and down in intensity. I can have minimal problems (with pramipexole) for a couple of weeks and then I'll have pretty bad symptoms for a few days. When ...
