So, it's been a week or so that I've been taking one or two canna-cookies at night before bed. I've been waking up once to do the obligatory bathroom break, and I will wake up if my partner snores or the dog starts fidgeting. The big difference is that I can fall back asleep relatively easily, and i...

Hello Mark - I did use Neurontin at one point for chronic pain - at a dose that worked I was too loopy to drive, and my feet got really huge. I haven't tried Tramadol, but I've had a lot of different opiates after a back injury and surgery, and didn't react well to them either. While marijuana is il...

I've tried at least one in just about every class of drugs they use for RLS, and had some really nasty side effects. One made my feet swell so big I couldn't fit them in my shoes, another made me so depressed I could scarcely see the point in getting out of bed in the morning, a third made me so irr...

Another clueless doctor

I was at the pulminologist's with my wife, because she snores loud enough to peel paint, and we thought it was a good idea to get it checked out. Doctor said, I'm a sleep specialist, so I asked her, if I developed augmentation with Mirapex, would she feel comfortable helping me sort out what to do n...

Dry Mouth?

I'm taking Mirapex, and the only real side effect for me is a terribly dry mouth. Since this happens when I'm asleep, sucking on candy or ice chips really isn't an option, and the one saliva substitute that I tried, Biotene, turns to glue in my mouth and doesn't keep it moist anyway. Does anyone hav...

Ferritin Question

Hello all - I know the suggested ferritin level is 50, but I don't know what the range is. The reason I need to know that is that my ferritin level is 14, in a range of 10-26, and I don't know what number I should be shooting for. Anybody know off hand hand what the range is on this test? Thanks, fe...

It occurs to me that if marijuana doesn't help with RLS, it might be worth considering for the side effect of nausea that comes with some drugs. It can be surprisingly good for this, and it might not interfere with the DAs like conventional anti-nausea medications can. On the other hand, I've found ...

Just to put some closure on the thread... Yesterday I saw the new PCP, who suggested that I might really want to switch medications, and gave me a sample pak of Mirapex. I was going to wait and talk to the pain management doctor, but by the afternoon I came up on the latest side-effect - increased u...

I had 732 PLMs over the course of 5 hours - 145 an hour. I had 19 arousals.

I think "Nadir SAO2" refers to the least oxygen saturation, which was 90%, during whatever respiratory event you had. I think that's not quite enough to diagnose sleep apnea.

Well, about the middle of the week I couldn't stand zipping around all night, and decided to just take the durn Requip in the morning! First day, ran around like a maniac all day, faceplanted into the bed, and slept pretty well. Next morning I figured, hey, I've got this drug sussed, and took anothe...

You know, it's sort of funny. The RLS seems to eventually cause movement, too. If I don't move, my body will eventually twitch. But, I can still tell the difference from PLMs. Yep, same here. When I had the creepy-crawly variety of RLS, it felt like a charge would build up, like static electricity,...

Turns out the Actiwatch is made by a company right the other side of Mt. Hood from us here in Portland, in Bend. I talked to them this morning - two actiwatches (one for each leg), and the software - $4,100. Okay, that's a little pricey for me. I'm calling their rep here in Oregon to see who's using...
