Seasonal sleep rhythm changes
I had a rough day today, it started out well, but at work I became overwhelmed suddenly and ended up in tears in front of everybody. This is very atypical for me, I'm not much of a crier (except that one day per month) and I've spent much of the evening re-hashing what happened in my head trying to ...

Barbee, i thought I had athletes foot for years because my feet would burn and itch - even though there was no redness or scale (like athletes foot results in). After I was diagnosed with RLS, I realized it was neuropathy related to the RLS. I don't know if your itching includes a burning sensation,...

Thanks for posting this Susan - I've been keeping a sleep log since August 08 because I think my lifelong insomnia has been misdiagnosed and that I actually have DSPD. Over the past year I've been averaging sleep @ 4am and wake @ 11am or noon, then over the holidays it shifted to sleep @ 5-5.30am an...

Mine's almost entirely on my right side. eye (yes, eye). Is this like a tic? I get an eye tic for a few hours every once in a while, but about 6 weeks ago I had it in my right eye for over 3 weeks, nonstop. It drove me crazy (and people told me all kinds of crazy remedies for it) but then it gradua...

As I understand it, Celexa and Lexapro are almost identical drugs. Best wishes with it. Lexapro is derived from the same compound that Celexa is derived from, but it's a more specific drug (specific in the neurotransmitter effects), refined if you will, and is reported to have fewer unpleasant side...

I'm still struggling with my sleep this summer, but I've added 6mg of Melatonin to my night-time routine and that's helping some, also Lunesta was running a 7 day free trial offer, so I got some free, which I'm divvying very carefully for myself. fingers crossed that I can get my rx coverage back so...

Carol Anne, I have taken SSRI antidepressants (the type that Lexapro and Zoloft and Prozac and many others are) for years, far pre-dating my RLS diagnosis (one year ago). I have taken Lexapro itself for a little over 2 years and it's been really good for my dysthymia (long lasting mild depression) a...

Re: Hi there from Australia
I will get it in either leg, but never both at the same time. I also have had a few experiences of it going from one leg to the other. You can feel it happening. Of course you have to find out which leg to lie on in bed. This is the most annoying thing...I find that lying on my side (on the leg tha...

Well, I'm sorry you all are suffering with me, but glad I'm not the only one who's noticed a connection. I'm a florida gal who's lived in the midwest for 10 years now - I still miss the florida weather in the winter, but it's just as hot here in mid-summer as it is at home - only there aren't nearly...

Symptoms worse during Summer?
Has anyone noticed an increase in their symptoms seasonally? My sleep got really bad last Summer, which is when I took action to get my first sleep study and was diagnosed with RLS and PLM off the charts. I assumed that the worsening of my symptoms was related to the severe stress I was under at the...

It's confusing, because my PLM symptoms are so so different from my RLS symptoms - It's hard to believe that they're not separate disorders. My RLS involves my foot tapping or leg bouncing rapidly, with an inner sensation that is mildly uncomfortable if I stop the movement consciously. As soon as my...

I've been on gabapentin since January 08 - only 300mg @ bedtime - no edema and I've lost weight - but I'm extremely active/athletic also (4-6 hours of intense aerobic activity per week). And side effects differ from person to person. If you're not convinced by your nurse practitioner's opinion, you ...

Oh caffeine. I've never drunk a great deal of it as I am sensitive to it (and most meds) - but cutting it out of daily consumption has made a positive difference in my daily jitterbug. God I miss Dr. Pepper though - I love the stuff. I've also found that I'm very sensitive to sugar. But I haven't be...

Progressive decrease in age at onset with subsequent generations (ie, genetic anticipation) has been described in some families. Hmm, no significance to me, since I'm already here and I'm not expecting to have any offspring, but this is pretty disturbing for some up-and-coming generations. My grand...

I also have both rls and pretty severe plmd (nocturnal myclonus). Sleep study indicated that I'm basically running a marathon in my sleep and my arousals aren't very frequent...but tell that to my drowsy self the next day! All I can tell you about the meds is based on my personal experience...I trie...
