Friend with RLS

I agree that your friend is blessed to have reconnected with you. Do be patient with her. If she is chronically sleep deprived she may be so physically, mentally, and emotionally depleted that it's hard to find the energy to pursue even those things that could likely be helpful. Providing her with g...

Augmentation

Hi. Been away for a couple weeks, just saw this thread. Yes, when I was augmenting, I had movements while awake enough to be aware of them, though I had to be in a very relaxed state, like close to dozing. Opening my eyes made them stop. Kinda made a game out of it - or should I say took it as a cha...

Treatment for RLS/EkD

For what it's worth, I've been having pretty good success at treating my nighttime symptoms in my legs by using a TENS Unit before bedtime. Have been able to go off the meds for them. I have PLMD and RLS/EkD, not sure if that would make a difference in TENS use. Now that you're having breakthrough s...

Mirapex

I felt pretty bad the whole time I was on Mirapex, even when it was helping my legs. Have you had a sleep study to see if there's an identifiable sleep issue responsible for how you feel during the day? Does anyone observe your sleep that could tell you if you move around a lot at night? It would no...

Small study for RLS

Hmmmm. I guess one with RLS just could test as more alert because who can relax with RLS!?

TENS Electrode Placement

Just noticed I had not updated this thread. I continue to have pretty good (though not perfect) results with using the TENS to make my legs calm enough for me to sleep. For some weeks now I've settled on placing the electrodes from each lead a few inches to either side of the spine, very low on the ...

Vitamin D

I look forward to you reporting back what your levels look like when you follow up. My Vitamin D level is low, and I take the D3, but I haven't had a follow up reading. Guess I should. Glad to hear that you are getting some relief.

Calf symptoms

RLS can present in various ways. Much of what you describe is described by others with RLS. Can't speak to the twitching, but maybe someone else can. Have you been evaluated by a physician for a possible explanation? I think I'd want doctors to rule out circulatory or other nerve issues, or even med...

sleep test tonite

Doety, lets hope this sleep study gives you some current and accurate info to enable you to better target your treatments to get relief. I saw my sleep doc recently and even though she'd never heard of treating PLMD with a TENS Unit, she was pleased to hear that it is helping me, and wants to do a s...

Naps

I agree with the others on this. For a long time I had to grab snatches of sleep whenever I could. Any attempt to do otherwise would have been futile as I was frequently "overcome" with sleep. Those naps were the source of my survival. After I had to quit working I decided to give my body ...

Your story of misery is echoed in these "halls". I'd just like to interject that I spent years suffering with augmentation before I realized what was going on, and that this was not "the progression" of the disorder. I regret not dealing with it sooner. But do not go off these me...

Leg Cramps

If it were me, I'd want a thorough medical exam to include bloodwork for nutritional deficiencies. Also, please inquire as to if any meds you might be on could cause this as a side effect. I just haven't read of anything like you describe being a part of RLS - just sounds like it might have an ident...

PLMD

Just a mention that the appearance of movements with PLMD can be as slight a the big toe repeatedly slowly flexing and releasing, to foot involvement, and all the way up to pronounced limb movements.

I was just responding to someone else about test results. Do you have copies of yours? Does it say you have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder? Go over the details of your report and figure out how often you had arousals or awakenings. If it was very frequently, I wouldn't trust those results about the...
