Re: Recent restrictions on length of opioid prescriptions

Ann, you've got it right about not seeing the worst of it yet. I've just gotten a little glimpse into the trend. After my PCP's office informed me out of the blue that he was no longer practicing there, and that their other providers did not prescribe methadone, I had to go back to PeaceHealth, a PP...

Re: Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

Holland, I've just ordered the stuff you recommend. Now, having read more of the kratom posts on the Nonprescription Meds board, I find myself unsure about when to take it -- in conjunction with or before/after prescription meds? Or is this too a detail I'll just have to experiment with? Betty, than...

Re: Kratom physiology

Susan, that's great info about the oblate discs/edible film. I'm about to start trying kratom, and if it seems like a winner, I'll get a package of these. Many thanks!

Re: Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

Reading a bit about kratom -- should I be buying it on line instead of locally to be sure of quality?

Re: Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

Holland, I'm going to hurry down to my friendly neighborhood medical marijuana purveyor first thing tomorrow and get some red vein Borneo. Steve, good advice on feeling out the doc's receptiveness. I will proceed with caution.

Re: Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

Thanks, all, for your responses. It is a great comfort to have your understanding, support, and suggestions. Steve, I'd already found and printed out the article you mention (but thanks); also, I have the clinical manual, the RLS Fdn newsletters' relevant articles, and Dr. B's article (thanks, Betty...

Re: Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

After I posted this, I discovered that my posts from four years ago are still in existence -- looks like there's a lot of valuable info in them that I need to remind myself of. Especially about Mirapex and methadone, whaddaya know! So I should probably ask people not to spend time and energy respond...

Uh-oh... methadone hassles?

Here's my story as briefly as possible. It's probably familiar to some. Five days ago, out of the blue, I got a letter from my doctor's office saying he was no longer practicing there. He had been prescribing my methadone. A day later, the office nurse left me a message that the other two practition...

Re: Can methadone augment??

Thanks, Ann and Neco. Let me describe the situation in a slightly different way, with some added info. I have been taking the methadone a little longer than I originally estimated -- it's been 4 months. (Before that, while I was quitting Mirapex, I gave oxycodone a try. That lasted maybe 2 or 3 week...

Can methadone augment??

Here goes with a third thread. Sigh. I'd been doing pretty well sleepwise with methadone for two, maybe three months. Dosage varied between 5 and 10 mg; thought I'd gotten stabilized on 7.5. Just took it before bedtime. Side effects were dry mouth, constipation, and random overheating plus drenching...

Re: Neupro and the insomnia side effect

Hoo boy -- I know Lyrica's expensive, so I expect Horizont and Neurontin are too. I paid a $173 copay for 30 1-mg Neupro patches. This could get pricey. I'm fortunate in that if it comes down to it, I could pay. Wonder how others manage. I wonder even more what happens if one is on an expensive comb...

Re: Neupro and the insomnia side effect

ViewsAskew and Rustsmith, thank you both for your speedy and helpful answers. I had no idea that alpha delta ligands (whatever they are!) might help. I don't think I've ever taken one. ViewsAskew, you're right, I augmented on Mirapex -- how'd you remember, with all the people who post here?! -- but ...

Neupro and the insomnia side effect

Hi folks -- I was very much helped by this forum a few months ago when I was coming off Mirapex. Now I'm back with a question about Neupro. After the Mirapex and a short time on oxycodone, I got pretty well grooved into methadone. I've been taking it for I guess two months now at least. But it was c...

Re: Well, THAT was interesting!

THANK YOU, QyX! It's so helpful to know someone else has had the same experience. Symptoms 24/7… hard to imagine. You have my sympathies. I hope you've found a med that's reliable for you.
