Re: Effectiveness of Gabapentin/Neurontin Over Time
I used Gabapentin to get off Clonazepam. At first it worked very well as I dropped from 3 to 1 mg. using 300 - 600 mg. Gabapentin. Getting off that last mg. was brutal and once finally off the Gabapentin was useless. I might as well have been taking aspirin. After nine months on DAs that just turned...

Re: Question about pharmas, augmentation, etc...
I had 25 years of experience with rls before I saw a doctor about it. He put me on .5mg clonazepam. Over the next 20 years my dose slowly went up to 2 mg and I assumed it was resistance to the drug but I was sleeping well, had no hangover and just dealt with late afternoon and early evening rls. I n...

Re: Ropinirole + trazadone + clonazepam
I quit clonazepam after 20 years because it is a nasty drug for any people. I seem to do well on it. I tried DAs and ended up on ropinirole that just made my RLS miserable. At first it was a miracle, to go days without the dreaded feelings, but that did not last long. My doctor quickly had me on 4 m...

Re: Gabapentine vs Clonazpem
My doctor put me on gabapentin to help my restless legs while I got off 20 years of clonazepam. I chose to quit because a large Canadian study associated it with an increased chance of Alzheimer's. The clonazepam was very, very, very difficult to get off of and had to be done by tapering very, very ...

Re: Finished with Ropinirole
Thanks for the replies. In no way did I mean opiates are not a acceptable treatment for rls but just getting a controlled substance like clonazepam is bad enough. After 20 years I had to sign a statement that I would not get another doctor to prescribe from a different pharmacy. My wife gave me the ...

Finished with Ropinirole
Since I went through a four month nightmare getting off clonazepam, I’ve tried gabapentin, pramipexole, sinemet, , ropinirole, ropinirole ER, kratom, Maryjane, iron, magnesium and red wine, even nothing. Even gave up caffeine. Now I’m going back on clonazepam and see if I can get back to where I was...

Re: Caffeine
My wife clandestinely weened me off caffeine in a week after a lifetime of drinking it. I was amazed how smoothly it went since I used to get a headache if I skipped it for one day. It seemed to help a bit with rls but more than that it significantly improved my bowels and I don't miss it much. I st...

Re: Lost
Wow, 8 mg! I have been on ropinirole for the better part of a year and had my ups and downs with it. I started at 1, quickly to 2 and when my doctor said 4 mg. of extended release I thought it would be a train wreck. The extended release greatly decreased the physical pain in my thighs and controlle...

Re: Gabapenton
I'm surprised nobody mentioned dehydration. I took gabapentin for a year and dealt with dehydration on a daily basis. Lately I have been taking 300 mg and waking up parched in the middle of the night. I'm giving gabapentin one more chance. Most of these drugs increase my appetite, or is it just my a...

Re: Newly Approved Device - available in US
Walking through a mall with my rls screaming, I sat in a massage chair and the rls stopped. I ended up buying one, enjoyed it for many years, but it worked great but did little for my rls. Like so much more that works for my rls, I think it was the distraction.

What was your doctors opinion? "(utilized a clonazepam to assist prior to hearing my Dr's opinion on the matter)
I'm using to about once a week just to survive on ropinirole and thinking of going back to it full time. Rick

Re: Is it possible to "reset" your level of Sinemet?
I don't know why doctors even prescribe Sinemet. I took it for a short while and felt like I was tripping on lsd, no exaggeration, and still had rls. Two days after quitting I surfed some big beautiful waves and it was the most surreal out of body experience I have had in a long time. I kept going b...

They have some good illustrations of the muscles at play on Wiki. The photo of the device on the JAOA article is worth a million words. Just leaves which muscles to target.

Where is my caffeine?
I have been struggling on 4 mg. ropinirole er for two months and was considering going another direction when I see my doctor this month. I had good days and bad but bad days started as early as noon and lasted the rest of the day. I was not sure if I was augmenting or just struggling. Then I starte...
