Iron on an Empty Stomach

From what I've read on this forum I should take iron (I'm taking 325 mg. Ferrous Sulphate) on an empty stomach. First thing in the morning I take B-12 under my tongue and a few minutes later take the iron and vitamin C. Then I wash it down with too much decaffeinated coffee. Maybe an hour later I ea...

Re: Just prescribed Clonazepam - what should I know?

I was out of line labelling clonazepam as addictive as I have been told before. "Stopping drugs like Clonazepam is a real mess" is more accurate.

And I too am an engineer, Ocean Engineering FAU '82. Maybe there is a link there. Our brains are wired differently.

Re: Just prescribed Clonazepam - what should I know?

I've been on Clonazepam for about 25 years and it seems to be the only thing that works for me. First you should know that benzodiazepines are addictive. Doctors don't use that word but I do. After 20 years took me six months to get off 2 mg. and I still had effects for six more months, maybe longer...

Re: Increasing REM sleep

I've been monitoring my sleep with a Fitbit watch for the last year. I'm not so impressed with the watch but it consistently only records any kind of sleep from about 2am until I wake up. Usually I log 2 - 3 hours on watch while I'm in bed from 10pm until 6 or 7am. Sometimes less or even none. Maxim...

Re: Gabapentin: Neurotin or Horizant (gabapentin enacarbil)

I'm surprised that gabapentin and Lyrica are basically the same. 300 mg. did nothing to help the 2 mg. clonazepam I'm on, but 150 mg. Lyrica has considerably improved symptoms.

Re: Tapering clonazepam before methadone treatment

I tampered off Clonazepam a couple of years ago. It was really tough. My doctor gave me 400 mg Gabapentin and told me over three months to taper 3, 2,1, 0 mg. It started out well but I did not sleep for a week when I went to 0. After that scary week I took 1 mg and slept 24 hours. Over the next thre...

Re: Lyrica

I started taking 250 mg Lyrica once a day about six months ago. I'm also taking 2 mg of clonazepam but got off gabapentin. I can live with this state of things but would prefer a little more help. My sensations start as soon as I lay down. I attribute better sleep to Lyrica but the RLS is going the ...

Re: What kind of Oral Iron?

My GP talked to the haematologist in my insurance group who will only treat anaemia with IV Iron. I was prepared for this after reading other's experiences with haematologists. I guess I'll change to Ferrous Sulphate with vitamin C and increase the dose to that specified in the Consensus Clinical Pr...

What kind of Oral Iron?

I was talking to my GP about IV Iron yesterday. I showed her the Consensus Clinical Practice Guidelines for Iron Treatment and she was somewhat receptive to the idea. She's going to talk to the haematologist and have a full iron panel run on me for my next visit. My question is what kind of oral iro...

Re: Methadone in Florida?

I'm a lifelong sufferer of severe RLS and resident of Fl. Almost every GP claims they treat RLS in their Bio but few to my experience know more than their computer tells them. DAs -> Extended release DAs -> Gabapentin -> Neupro. I looked all over the state for an expert and found a movement speciali...

Re: PLMD experience?

My wife's principal complaint is my PLMD. Hard to sleep with someone with this condition but she is a great sport. My symptoms are mostly when I'm asleep but a little in the evenings. I had no idea how bad it was until I took a video even though it's been going on for over 45 years. Without Clonazep...

Re: Experience with Injectafer?

Stjohn, what exactly is Injectafer? Is that a name brand of the technique? Is it an IV drip or something else? I think you said if your insurance did not cover the procedure it would cost about $2K. Was that for the series of shots, basically a year's dose? I read the study and I'm thinking of bring...

Re: Dopamine question - even after all these years.

My doctor says she has had patients on DAs for decades for RLS. I have never met one. I know this forum caters to those seeking more help but is there anyone out there that knows one of these people successfully using DAs for decades. I tried and supplements you mention by themselves and still do wi...

Re: Rotating Meds

Along the lines rotating meds I had an incredibly hard time getting my prescriptions filled in time for vacation. I would have run out of both clonazepam and Lyrica over two weeks. CVS (our pharmacy) at first told them I could get them on Thursday and filled the clonazepam. Because insurance covered...
