Re: Nonmedication strategies for RLS by Shalini Paruthi,MD

I suspect that what Dr. Paruthi is referencing is that, in a most cruel irony, lack of sleep actually exacerbates RLS. I have seen this referred to elsewhere also and it is certainly my experience. After I withdrew from pramipexole following augmentation, I went into a spiral of no sleep and terribl...

Re: Relaxis

I have a relaxis pad. The results are very mixed and I would say probably not worth the money. It works well for my symptoms if I go to bed during the day and the legs start but at night time it rarely has a positive effect and sometimes it actually makes the legs worse. It is sort of soothing thoug...

Re: Cortisone Injection

I think I read a post somewhere by a man who used an anal suppository of lidocaine each evening and it helped his rls a lot. I haven't tried it ... yet - things are relatively controlled at the moment and it would require a certain level of discomfort to hoist me over the disinclination to take medi...

Re: Attempting to get off Ropinirole - again

Polar Bear, I think you should feel very proud of yourself for biting the bullet and going for it. You have achieved an amazing reduction in a relatively short period of time. Even though the withdrawal is so hard, the sense of taking back control from the drugs is an enormous compensation. Having b...

Re: Vibration helped me through the drug holiday

Sounds like an amazing trip. I have a relaxis pad. For some unfathomable reason it works on my rls if I go for a nap during the day but not at night. In fact, sometimes at night time I think it actually aggravates my rls. I do find it soothing sometimes to run it if I wake up in the middle of the ni...

Re: What Relationships?

Red wine is an invariable trigger with me. I hardly ever drink it any more as it always causes a bad night.

Sorry to hear about your bad nights, Betty, but very glad to read that you have virtually halved your dose of ropinerole. That is amazing. Go you!

Re: Experience with Injectafer?

That is wonderful news, Holland. Am absolutely delighted for you. It makes me feel more positive about my own situation as I am pretty convinced my rls responds to improved iron levels. It looks like I would have to travel to another country to get an Injectafer transfusion but would be worth it. I ...

Re: Iron Patches

I got my serum ferritin results last week and my iron had remained pretty much level. It was 66 and the last test (just before I started the iron patches) was also in the mid 60s - of course I have misplaced the note I made of the result. I am disappointed but at least it hadn't gone down. I am pret...

Re: Cannabis

Can you say what strain of cannabis you are taking, QyX? I looked at the tedtalk you linked and one thing that leaped out was the effect of the slight change in strain on the autistic kids - one strain worked like a miracle and a different one made no impact at all. None of the four strains of canna...

Re: Iron Patches

I have been using patches for about 2 months and just yesterday went for a serum ferritin test. It was 68 before I started so will be interested to see what it is now. I get the results next week and will post then.

Re: Cold Turkey Blues

Overall feeling much better... feeling more like myself? That is exactly how I felt when I finally eliminated pramipexole. Could not believe just what an effect it had had on my personality until I was off it. Well done. It is truly torture getting off it ... but so worth it. Things can only get be...

Re: Experience with Injectafer?

Holland, I hope things have settled down and you have returned to 'normal' you. I suspect that Beth may be correct that aggravating the hip may have irritated your rls. It could also be the reduction/elimination of kratom. I definitely find an appreciable - though not excruciating - increase in my r...

Re: Update, Funny but True

Yes; I have had the same experience. If I had to work I could keep going and get through surprisingly technical stuff even with virtually no sleep night after night. Just occasionally it would catch up with me, however, and I did have the humiliating experience of falling asleep in a small meeting r...

Re: New to this group

Please tell us what iron supplement you were taking. I would love to get my serum ferritin to over 100.
