The only reason I can think of is that you are taking cold medicine. These often exacerbate RLS. Go here and go the the Southern Cal support group link http://beta.restlesslegs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=549 It has a card you can download to carry in your wallet that lists medicines to avoid. Hope y...

Everyone's response to drugs is varied. What works for one, doesn't work for another. The iron may help. It does help many, although it doesn't make it completely go away for most, and some it doesn't help at all. Mirapex and Requip help many. MPRTRM, the first few days or week, in my experience, ca...

Lyndarae, if it's any consolation, I bet most of us would have done the same, and HAVE done the same. I know I have. I am not afraid of stating my needs. I am not shy. I am assertive. But, my cognitive function turns to jelly in these situations. Lack of sleep? Maybe. Stress? Maybe. Being with an au...

Lyndarae, that story is appalling. In one of the wealthiest countries in the world, no less. If you can manage it financially, go for that sleep center. Now, that you have to go through this is also appalling. That some of us, and many of us working, are unable to get health insurance at affordable ...

People with celiac are more prone to have nocturnal myonclonus, which is similar to PLMD and can be PLMW (while awake). It's great that you've gotten a diagnosis of CD (hope it didn't take too long) as many physicians are as clueless about CD as they are about RLS. It's also great that keeping GF ha...

The So Cal RLS Support Group site talks about both of them, but I haven't used them. Are these new meds the doc wants you to try to replace the Mirapex? Permax is the other kind of DA, I think. I can't remember exactly: some are ergot derived and some are non-ergot. I think this is an ergot. The We ...

Commiseration

Jenn, I'm in the same boat, but from Mirapex, so I feel your pain (especially when I try to tie my shoes  . In the first 18 months I took it, I gained 2 or so pounds a month and am now 40 pounds heavier than I was. I had to go buy a new wardrobe. . . 3 times!

Starting Out - Links and Information updated 12/13/05

I was putting together some information for my family when it occurred to me that other people here might like the same. So, here are lots of links I've found. I'm sure there are more; we can always add them to this thread as we find them. Happy reading! Ruby and Nadia and Lyndarae put together a si...

Knowledge is king

Knowledge DOES conquer. . .well. like you said Jumpy, at least some of the time. In the case of us RLSers, it's essential. So many of us here have directly and indirectly benefitted from our own educational process. Guess that's a good time to say THANKS! All of the people here that have shared thei...

Sudden drop

Don't quote me, :) , but I seem to remember hearing/reading something about sudden low blood pressure and Mirapex. Might have been my old neuro saying something to me. Have you done a search on Google to see if you find anything? Good luck finding out what causes it - it sounds awful and surely must...

Update

I went to the sleep clinic this week to meet with a doctor to see what his/her recommendations were for the sleep study. The last time I had a sleep study, the neuro just sent me for one and the sleep center did it. This time I had to be evaluated by someone at the sleep clinic first. This time I kn...

I second that

Dear Neph, I second your post. Merry, merry, happy, happy, peace, hope and joy to all. To those I've met and those I haven't, may love and faith be with you now and through the new year. I see my RLS as inconsequential compared to the wonderful, caring, and dedicated soul that you are to your family...

Betty, I've only been here a few months, but it doesn't seem to be an active thing at this point. The only times I've been in have been when someone emailed me and said they would be there. We talked about having Yahoo Messenger on so we could indicate we were available, but I always forget to turn ...

I wish I had some information to offer, but I do not. This must be very difficult for both of you. I've not heard of a connection between them nor how to treat them together. Did the neuro provide any suggestions or medications to help your husband? I hope so, as there are many he can try, although ...

Simply sucks

Soon, I keep my fingers crossed, soon none of us will have to go through this. If we each had a dollar for some incompetent neuro who claims to know something about this. . .well, it wouldn't make us rich, but you get my point. Good luck, Irena. It sounds like you know what you are doing and are doi...
