Re: Methadone and Gabapentin no longer working well

This is very odd. My poor husband can't sleep tonight because of his legs. He is having pain. First it was on the back side of his thighs, now in the back side of the calves. He is sitting in bed, with knees bent, less moving from side to side not together. He says it makes the whole body feel bett...

Re: Changing my diet may have solved my RLS

Thanks so much for clarifying that, Rustsmith. I wonder why my PC insists that the best way to absorb the most iron is to take it every other day. Are their different expert opinions on this? I've learned that none of us are immune to incorrect info. Even those who would seem science-based, such as...

Re: Methadone and Gabapentin no longer working well

This has been a strange few days. My husband is sick with shingles. He is very miserable. At times he has been pacing. I realized something, that I live day to day maybe more than some people. I won't know when I will no longer be able to sleep with my current meds. It will just happen. Of course n...

Re: Update on TENS Unit Use for Nighttime Symptoms

Looks like those neurons aren't totally gone yet. In late December life took a turn when family members were in a bad auto accident and I was staying out of state for 3 months to help during the early stages of their recovery. The stress of the situation was high - it was my job to be the strong on...

Re: Methadone and Gabapentin no longer working well

I get tolerance. I just have to stop everything at some point to reset. When I started with methadone, I needed 10 mg. Then 12.5, then 15 - all within a few months. Dr. B thought I just might have been at too low of a dose to start with. But, in retrospect, I do not think so. I regularly get up to 2...

Re: Brain chemistry or pathways and dopamine agonists

DAWS is an issue at higher doses. As with anything, there are always a few outliers. We have a member who had DAWS as a lower dose, though. I asked Dr. Buchfuhrer about it a few years ago -at the time he'd never seen it in his patients and he always advocated immediately stopping DAs when the dose w...

Re: Desperate

Ann, I am just to afraid the ADs will activate the RLS which is so out of control right now. Meds are not doing what they need too. Getting 4 hours a night and don't want it to go lower than that with an AD as that will give me cause for more depression in itself. Will try to get on another med in ...

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants

Ann, I do think if I can get over my terror about the ADs, I think I CAN cope with the situation and can keep my job if I get an electric scooter. I just don't feel I have my sleep stabilized enough to do that right now. I feel just like Beth did with her post on death the answer. On good pain days...

Interesting...and makes me wonder how often neuropathy is comorbid with RLS as well as how often RLS may be mistaken for neuropathy.

Re: What med cocktail works for you??

For more on poor decision making by doctors, an interesting and enlightening read is How Doctors Think. Mutsey67 - I think you will find that we all take such different things that having this info may not help much. It IS that complex - there are no drugs developed for RLS, there appear to be diffe...

Re: What med cocktail works for you??

Mine varies so frequently, not sure it helps to share! Right now I am slowly decreasing methadone to take a 2 month vacation from it. I am in hell, lol. This is voluntary - I do not have to do this. I am one who has tolerance to opioids, however, so taking a break every couple years can reset recept...

Re: Desperate

working out helped my rls and mood immensely. now that i have difficulty walking its seems as if there is no reprieve from the physical pain, rls and depression that has worsened considerably this past year. i think about death ALL the time and i do eat a very clean paleo diet. Oh - peanut - so sor...
