Too much press???
I was at an event recently and a lot of other people were there. During the evening, three different people came up to me to talk about RLS. They all said they had read about it or heard about it recently and that they had it or that their spouses had it. Case 1: Person that feels comforted by movin...

I have the mattress and it does NOT stop the RLS for me. It just helps my partner tremendously - he doesn't feel my kicking - and helps my body be more comfortable. I LOVE it, but would not recommend it to stop the RLS - at least if you have moderate of severe. Not sure what it would do for mild. Ann

If it were me, I'd call immediately. This could be rebound - where the symptoms are worse when the meds wear off. It isn't that common with Mirapex, but it does happen. If it is, in my opinion, you need to switch to a different med. Rebound that happens within a few weeks of starting is not a good s...

Jamie, have you been tested for any autoimmune disorders? They are terribly hard to pin down - sometimes it takes years to get a correct diagnosis. Of couse, I'm not a doc, but an option is Sjogrens. It can look a lot like fibro, lupus and other diseases. Although not a common symptom of it, some pe...

No relation, at least not from RLS to Parkinsons. Both occur in the same part of the brain, both involve dopamine. And if you have Parkinsons, you can get secondary RLS. But that's it. They have a completely different cause. Having RLS does NOT mean you have an increased change of Parkinsons. At lea...

Oh, Jan. Have you had any luck finding a new neuro? A rash all over. . .that sounds horrible. The doctor that said it's just stress should have his or her license taken away. Even if stress caused it, you have to solve the other problems to make the stress go away. Gee, I'd love to wave my magic de-...

Oh, Corrie, that is the scary part isn't it, that it won't work. I think I read somewhere that a portion, (20 percent?) of people had all symptoms go away, a portion had reduced symptoms and a portion had no change when the ferritin went up. And 6 months!!!! I was hoping for shorter, but since it on...

It's two months since I started the iron therapy. I started with a ferritin of 9, as of last week it was up to a whopping 18. I am glad it's up, but can see that I will not be discontinuing my current drug regimen for a while . I've had a few months of sleep, even though I still do not get any deep ...

Barb, so sorry you are having problems with the meds. There is a great algorithm for treating RLS and Klonipin is not the first thing to try. It's one of the oldest meds used, however, so some docs that are not really current may prescribe it first. Please look at these threads and they have links t...

Dogeyed, in my mind, primary RLS only has one cause: brain doesn't work right, definitely genetic in most cases. Now for secondary, that's a different issue. Many things CAN cause secondary RLS including surgery, pregnancy, kidney problems, back injury, spinals, Parkinson's, fibro, etc. Meds can mak...

Kimberly, Here's the link to the post with the sirvey information. m As far as your story, I'd try it anyway. Sometimes it helps to honor our own struggles personally, just to know how hard we've worked and how much we've had to deal with. But, they mentioned talking about ongoing struggles. It's im...

Brady, I figured something was up when you were gone for so long. I knew you were having a tough time of it, but kept hoping that something would happen to turn things around. If you need to be here, we're still here. It's one of those take what you need and leave the rest kind of things. Since you'...

Dearest Becat, My thoughts were with you often during the last few weeks. What a marvelous way your family honored your grandmother in dignity and love. What a great opportunity you had to spend that time together in mourning, love, sadness, joy, and in community. My thoughts are still with you. Wel...

It makes sense that with a back injury as the cause of RLS (secondary RLS) that a chiro could help. Back injury and surgery are definitely known causes of secondary RLS. The cause seems to originate in a different place than primary. Primary RLS is caused by a malfunction of cells in the brain, thou...
