Well, that's good to know. My neurologist has said to me , " you're on a really low dose. I've seen people on 200 mg/day" but he hasn't said what disorders these people had. Is the ceiling based on demonstration that greater doses don't make a difference? What was the disorder that was mim...

I have found that tylenol helps my back problem (lumbar disc). But also hydrococone helped. I have two questions. 1. if you have to have anesthesia - IV sedation or general anesthesia - can they do that when you are on methadone? 2. the recommended dose for RLS is 5-20 mg of methadone, right? But wi...

I agree Susan, that when RLS is in full swing, it is much harder to think straight.

Oops. Sorry for incorrectly attributing the quote, SUsan . . . must be the mental fog! Re: withdrawal - if you withdraw from any meds very very slowly, it is not really so bad, right? I mean, I withdrew from the benzo very slowly and it was fine except for tingling in my feet and slight stomach upse...

I definitely see your point. I took Effexor, an antidepressant for 8 years, and it took more than two months to get off it because of the withdrawal. I see it as the same thing really. I never have had a buzz from methadone, so the only reason I take it is for my symptoms, as there is no pleasure as...

It's a shame about the mental side effects. I guess there are much worse things that could happen. Yes, I am up to 15 mg/day and that seems to be working for almost 2 weeks now. I hope this lasts! Basically, I had a lot of ambivalence and indecision about switching off the methadone, so I called the...

Hi - Has anyone been told that they are mentally not as sharp since they started methadone? My husband thinks that my logic and thinking processes have been a little off the wall since I started taking "all these drugs." He might have meant opiates in general, but I just assumed he meant m...

L-Theanine and narcotics

Hi there, L-theanine was recently recommended to me by a doctor (not my neuro) for anxiety and noted that it has helped some folks with RLS. SInce my RLS is immediately and frequently aggravated by anxiety, I thought this wwould be great, but didn't know if it interacted with any narcotics. I'll che...

Yes, I am always very apologetic and express my gratitude every time I speak to him. Most of the time he seems a bit surprised and seems to indicate that it is not necessary to be so thankful/grateful, but I certainly don't want him to think I am demanding or take his help for granted. I had thought...

Susan - do you take it every day or just when you have to drive long distances or sit in a long meeting, etc . . .? I think it made mine slightly worse, but I think I could stand to use it once in a while. My neuro though it could cause augmentation if taken regularly. .. I was confused about him us...

Pam - I know what you mean about wanting to go back to the Dopamine agonists - when things get really bad I sometimes think that but then I remember how bad it was trying to get off the darn stuff.

I don't know anything about the adhd drugs but I have heard that they work for some folks.

OK. I am pretty worried now. I don't want to switch off the methadone. (although, the doc says the methadone is what is making me twitch - have you experienced that? I stopped twitching pretty much in the month before I reached 7.5 mg). I am afraid the hydrocodone won't be enough. If it turns out it...

AARgh. Well, I guess the appt went OK. He was very concerned about my sleepiness behind the wheel and did not want to increase the methadone. Since I was not comfortable at this dosage, he wanted to switch me to a fentanyl patch 25 micrograms/hour. However, I thought the fertility doc would freak ou...
