Re: Hyperalertness - Research Study

Re PLMs - you will probably have them when you're off meds, and anyway you wouldn't know without a sleep study because they mostly don't wake people up. I didn't think I had them, and one study when I was medicated with gabapentin and codeine didn't show much, but the later one when I was medicated ...

Re: End of Line

Wow. When it happens, let it happen! And may it happen more. A lot of your distress the last week (I've been away but trying to catch up) has clearly been lack of sleep. My GP sent me to a psychiatrist once, and luckily for me he was a well-informed man, and he told her in his report that I was not ...

Re: Work, wakefullness, and other pitfalls

Me too, Ann. I'm greedy for what I feel should be rightfully mine: the life I used to have. I've read the saga from beginning, so much to catch up on after my trip! The horrors of a drug test and then NO MENTION of why they didn't seem to pay any attention to it at all! Did someone there know that y...

Re: Hello.....am still here

poor moonlight! But I'm glad you have your music groups and that you're painting. Anything that gets the mind off things for a while is something that lets us carry on that much longer in spite of things. the other drug rthom mentioned is hydromorphone. That's the generic name. It might have a brand...

Re: blood clotts

jumping in on the Canadian health care system. It differs quite a bit from province to province. We get pretty good health care in the NWT, a lot of it paid for if you're an NWT resident. I know lots of people in other provinces, including Ontario where rthom is, and I have never heard any story lik...

Re: detox soaks

Makes sense; we want results if at all possible.

I don't think there's any evidence that toxins leave our body by soaking in salty water, but who knows.

Re: detox soaks

that's great, peanut.
you don't get the same effect from a bath with no salts? I love a hot bath, it kills the symptoms dead (as long as they're mild)

Re: Plagues of Egypt Pestering Me or RLS/WED?

The only times i had similar things were from working outside in the cold . my inside-the-nose scab came from the nose constantly running, I think, maybe initiated by catching a rock chip in the nose (from hammering on the rock). The cracked fingertips definitely came from handling rocks in the cold ...

That just makes you never want to go to emerg again for anything, esp since you already didn't really want to go. Love of Jesus. Why no local anesthesia? There must have been a reason? That's nuts....

Re: Hyperalertness - Research Study

keep investigating/. too much glutamate, yes. adenosine, I don't know, I will look into that and see whether I come to the same understanding, when I have some more time. It's interesting that too much glutamate is a problem yet the amino acid supplements that chipmunk??? takes (that I recommended t...

Re: Hello - I'm New to this site and thought I was going Mad

Ireitz Perhaps print out the RLSF Medical Bulletin (2011 version) , and highlight the parts about augmentation , and take it to your doctor. Also print this post for him/her; here are some references to ferritin levels and worsened RLS/WED: Patients with augmentation had significantly lower ferritin...

well that sucks! sounds like your doctor is not comfortable treating this disease on her own. Perhaps it owuld be best if you asked for a referral to a neurologist or a sleep specialist with RLS/WED experience.

Re: Welcome New Members - January 2013

Deadelus, a lot of people see a correlation between spinal nerve compression and WED/RLS symptom severity, but nothing I know of has been published about it. WED or no WED, the inversion table is a great way to stretch the spine. If you can't afford one, various stretching exercises can help. Someon...
